He didn't put together stank! He fell backwards while blindfolded playing the matador, Ole...and getting out of the way. Nothing but a glorified cheerleader. You people are a joke with this crap.

Pretty much my thoughts as well.

SW had to give an already overpaid coach a raise/extension. He didn't have to effectively double his salary. That's on him.

HCs should be allowed to select their assistants (within reason). But he didn't have to pay Pelini a contract 4 to 5X more than his market value. That too is on him.

I don't buy that we have an endless supply of money. If so, Alex Box would be improved.

He said that Scott isn’t faultless in some of the assistant coaching fails. And that he is the one that gives the contract. So the money is all on him.

I mean Tbob is right. Some of you are in for a rude awakening with Woodward, I think he has the drive to be a great AD but the jury is very much still out on him. By all accounts we made a great hire with Jay Johnson but any one on this board could’ve hired Mulkey, didn’t take a lot of effort. People talk about him being a master negotiator and always getting who he wants. He’ll hire someone and severely overpay them. (See Orgeron and Jimbo’s contracts). That’s not good negotiating. We’ll see what he does with this hire. I feel like a lot of people love Woodward because he’s not Alleva and not necessarily for his accomplishments.

So there was no reason to believe O would run off the tracks?
There were no personal issues? There were no personal or professional issues in his past?

I mean, he had been the coach at LSU for 2 years at that point. What were his personal issues up until that point at LSU? Are you really supposed to hold shite against someone that they did decades ago? Again, you have to with what we know AT THE TIME. O looked to be a Cinderella story of a life turnaround.

And why jump him to #2? No one was bidding against us.

Maybe it was in his contract? Either way, you paid him market value of a coach with a national championship. One he just won 2 weeks before the contract.

Extension was 2 years too long. Give the raise but a 6 year deal when NOBODY would even want to hire Ogre.

True from the outside, but was it true from the inside? Someone with access to the building would know.

We all heard rumors about O not getting along with Canada, Aranda and we knew about his past; but we didn’t really know what was going on and after the NC no one cared. O was our guy and it was a Cinderella story, but once the clock hit mid nite things changed.

If it was in the contract then SW didn’t give him a raise, SW merely paid the man his money. That’s not SW giving him a raise.
Again the market for a NC isn’t 9 million a year. Other NC coaches didn’t make that much even though they were coveted by other schools.

I think they paid the buyout because Orgeron knows things that would hurt the university and would turn on them. A lawsuit with that idiot would be much more expensive than 17M and would come out of the university's budget, not from boosters. Things revealed in discovery, depositions etc could be a real problem.
