Screw the band.
Let's do away with the crowd too, just get more speakers and bigger amps. In fact, we could replace every seat with a buncha speakers. Tiger Stadium would really be wild then.

listening to zombie nation 800 times a game would be so much better than any of that crap the band plays. Along with repeatedly playing crazy train and hells bells... Yeh, that would make TS so much better.
That and only if there was some sort of way to get more pom poms distributed to the crowd...
Perhaps one day...

I love the piped in music. They upgraded the sound system significantly during the 2008 season. The problem is the stadium DJ is awful. The timing of U2, Rolling Stones, and John Mellencamp are just horrific. South Carolina and Auburn do a really good job from what I can tell. Their crowds stay rocking because their stadium DJs play good "hype" music. Tiger Stadium needs a little bit of that.

At least then the stadium would be full for the entire game.

Piped in music is good. Piped in music with a terrible DJ that plays Lady Gaga and 5-year-old rap is retarded.
Why not play "Livin' on a prayer" and other college songs that people actually know the words to?

I don't want to hear anymore music until they replace that God awful sound system. I sit right by the thing and it still sounds like shite.

I used to be an opponent of piped in music. But several things have made me switch. First, seeing what it does in other stadiums, such as Virginia Tech and Auburn and Sourth Carolina. Those fans are going absolutely bonkers, it's loud, and amazingly enough, they can do it for 2:30 games, while we make excuses why our fans can't get loud for day games.
But secondly, and probably more importantly, is that hearing piped in music is much better than hearing the student section turn every song into expletive filled garbage. Would they sing those lyrics if their mom was sitting next to them? If the students keep that up, the administration will likely play more and more piped in music versus TGBFTL.

I don't mind calling Baton Rouge or Louisiana Saturday night before the game.
Speak for yourself. That crap makes me want to thrash a seal pup.

OK but all they can play is zydeco
This would give the stadium that "unhinged" quality. If we are playing piped in music, play cajun or zydeco

This is the most obnoxious thread in the history of Tiger Rant. If you don't like what the band does, go to the NBA or a heavy metal concert.

Golden Band overrated? I don't know if it's tradition or what, but the sounds in Tiger Stadium already give me goose bumps several times a game. And I don't hear anyone complaining about how quiet it is on a Sat. night.

I won't bash. I'm a traditionalist and don't like piped-in music. But I could live w/ it, to an extent. But, no "Zombie Nation." Please, I'm begging you. Or, the stupid White Stripes song they play in Big 10 stadia.

Seven Nation Army? The only version of that song I ever care to hear is VETO and Lucy Love, but I doubt that would happen.

No way... because they would probably think it'd be fun to play "stand up and get crunk." And in that case I'd be pissed.

First of all I must admit I am a former member of the drum line of TGBFT. On the other hand I do like a lot of forms of music and I realize some piped in music can and does intensify the "atmosphere".
But...you have to truly look at what "makes" college sports particularly football. That is "tradition"
This past Saturday night I drove about 30 miles from where I live (Temple, Texas) to Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco to watch the Texas A&M game against Baylor. They call it "The Battle of the Brazos" The game was the 107th meeting between the two schools. My son in law is a graduate of A&M. By Texas A&M "tradition" that makes me a member of the Aggie family. As a LSU graduate, I wanted to not betray my heritage. I wore a "purple" sweater with a white collared shirt underneath. I wore a "gold" cap. I told my daughter I would be dress "color appropriate". As the sun went down and the lights were turned on, my purple sweater began to look as if it was maroon. Our seats were directly behind the A&M Band (The Fightin Texas Aggie Band). Next to The Tiger Band my personal favorite college band is the Aggie Band. I visited with the tuba players setting on the back row. As we sat there, the President of Texas A&M actually came by and chatted with us as well. We were on about the 20 yard line and directly underneath Floyd Casey's sound system. As the band would begin to play "The Theme from Patton" or "The Ballad of The Green Berets" or "The Aggie War Hymn" The sound system would begin to blare songs from System of a Down,Ozzy Osborne, Kid Rock, Metallica, AC/DC, Green Day and others. the louder the Aggie Band played, the louder the music was "pumped". Eventually the music was so loud that all we heard was static and distortion. Personally I thought it was a sad. It was disrespectful and frankly it was annoying.
I realize the piped in music is a reality and I realize that Tiger Stadium uses it as well. I just hope it is used appropriately and Tiger Tradition will remain.
Finally I want to ask a question. How many college football teams in America enter the stadium with the strains of a fight song that was actually written by a former Governor of the state?
