UT was preseason #1, LSU was preseason #3 according to Baseball America. When the final poll comes out, the team closer to their preseason ranking would be considered to have the less disappointing season.

And ended up the 3rd best in our regional 1500 miles away from the Box. That's disappointing to me. I would much rather have finished where Texas did than we did.

well that's over simplifiying and taking basically every variable of a team's season out of the equation

I'd say LSU had a much more disappointing season for sure. by virtue of that, their post season result was disappointing but not much of a suprise.

On the other hand, Texas had a great season, and therefore UT fans had to expect at least an appearance in Omaha.

I know i'm hella dissapointed in the short season, but i think as the postseason started, UT fans still saw a NC in their future.

Therefore i say UT fans were more let down yesterday than LSU fans were last sunday.

But i think i was more disappointed with the season as a whole. still love em though.

plenty of good teams lose in the super regionals every year. Texas lost to a very good team.

Texas. They had realistic expectations to win it all this year. They didn't make it out of the Supers.

By mid year at LSU, when our pitching went into the tank, everyone should have been happy we at least made the post season.

LSU

After a great start to the season , we endured weeks of head-banging moments such as the UNO loss; frustrating weekends when the pitching staff was nowhere to be found; losing sweeps to Ole Miss, Florida, and Kentucky. I'd say the pain the Tigers endured was worse.

Texas stayed highly ranked, and played quality baseball throughout the season. Any team can lose a 2 of 3 series to a team as talented as TCU.

Texas might've beaten most of the other teams in the Supers, can LSU fans really think LSU would've done the same? I cant.

that's irrevelent

he said that texas lost to a very good team. my counterpoint is that LSU lost to a very good team as well. both lost to top-8 teams in the post-season

if you want to stretch it out, one could argue that Texas losing to TCU is more disappointing than LSU losing to #6 UCLA? i think it's a wash, but the discusssion could take place

Texas.

Much higher expectations with moderately better results than LSU.

and if you take the regular seasons into context, you'll see exactly why LSU's season as a whole is much more disappointing

no difference both were predicted to make it back to CWS...it happens at least our fans were prepared and none of our fans had the deer in the head lights look.

I'm loving the office chatter today... "what happened to Texas this weekend?" There was so much smack talking last week after LSU was out.

which is why I believe they had a more disappointing year......we aren't far behind though.

Both UT and LSU were preseason top 5 teams (ie both were predicted to get to Omaha). UT wins their conference by 7 games, hosts a regional, hosts a super-regional. LSU ends up 8th in the conference and is the third place team in a regional. How can anyone with half a brain say UT had a more disappointing season than LSU? Forget injuries, they happen. Or if you want, you can say LSU's injuries caused them to have the more disappointing season.

Texas. Last year was our year and Texas was a year early. 2010 was the year Longhorn fans were pointing to for their championship run. They didn't even make Omaha- you bet they're bummed. We were restocking and with AR's injury and subsequent drop, it became evident that this year wasn't going to be our year. Even when we were winning early, our pitching wasn't strong enough to make a great run.

Cause of expectations.

The Texas expectations remained the same throughout the season...CWS.

The LSU expectations changed during the course of the season to hoping to make the SEC tourney and getting a bid to a regional.

It's not who had the better regular season...hell, Texas did and everyone knows it. Because they did and earned a #2 national seed at home, more was expected of them and the fact they didn't achieve what the large majority of college baseball fans assumed that they would...the disappointed is greater.

guess I am not a ranter. I said the best LSU could hope for was a Super Regional appearance.

We lost our starting 1B in Ochinko, starting RF in Mitchell, starting LF in Schimph, starting 3b in Helenihi, starting 2B in LeMahieu, starting pitcher in Coleman and a good left handed reliever in Jones. Anyone with half a brain that thought we could come right back and go to the CWS with all of that gone and both AR and Watkins hurt must be sniffing glue. Texas had their entire starting rotation back and most of the position players back. I think they lost their 3b and two OF. Keyes was back, Loy was back, Rupp was back and Moldenhauer was back. Seems to me Texas should have been a lock for Omaha, LSU not so much.
