He is a professional and made a professional decision, which was obviously the right decision, judging by the results.
Beyond that, track and field is huge in Europe. He is revered in Sweden, but is basically an afterthought in the US outside of once every 4 years.

Screw U.S. Olympics Committee- Hell, if I had dual French citizenship, I would play for France. Sorry, but 'wokeness' has left me bitter about supporting anything relating to U.S. athletes so I feel Mondo made the right choice representing Sweden.

A number of years ago several vaulting coaches who are friends had a showcase vaulting meet at Rummel High School for their trainees. Greg Duplantis brought two of his kids. As a masters track and field athlete I was among the trainees of the Tulane vaulting coach. On that day Mondo who was 8 broke the world record for 8 year old boys. A short while later his sister broke the world record for 5 year old girls. Neither record counted because it was not an official usatf sponsored meet. But it was great seeing what this high achieving family can do.

You thought right. Great pole vaulter but not very bright. I saw a TV interview of Mondo with his dad (and coach) standing next to him. I can’t remember what Mondo said, but it was grammatically incorrect in a back woods way. His dad corrected him, and Mondo thanked him. The funniest part was that his dad’s correction was just as wrong.

No. He would have to sit out of the '22 and '23 world championships to switch. That's a lot of $$$ to throw away.

frickkk ... and all this time I thought that Lafayette was located in Louisiana, not Sweden .. wow ! So hmmm, I wonder why the USA is even represented in the Olympics ... because unless your Jim Thorpe, nobody's ancestors actually 'come' from the USA. Our ancestors only came to this land .. and promptly stole the place.
