Does he do anything for LSU or America anymore?
If not, frick him.
If not, frick him.

Why is he obligated to? Sweden treats him like a king most Americans don’t even know his name. The US had every opportunity to use his talents. They chose not to. Sweden welcomed him with open arms.
He’s been a citizen of Sweden for as long as he’s been a citizen of the US. So tell me why his loyalties should lie here when Sweden acts like they actually want him?

I would never in a million years compete for another country.

I just don't like Baws who pretend to be from Sweden.
His mother was born in Sweden and met Mondo's dad when they were both on the LSU Track and Field team.
Swedish law allows the offspring of Swedish born citizens to compete under the Swedish flag.

Yep. He gets a bonus every time he does it so there’s no incentive to go “all out” we’ll probably see him do something ridiculous like 21-6 or something out of the blue in a few years before he hits tDecline

When you’re looking at a few extra 100’s of thousands to your potential yearly earnings you’d probably change your tune.

I mean, I guess I’m thinking a guy with those talents, could play for the country who he grew up in and supported him and raise awareness of the sport here in America. Would be a real pioneer for pole vaulting here.
Or he could just sell out and wear the flag of someplace he’s barely ever stepped foot in for a few extra bucks and some vanity.

He spent summers there growing up. This isn’t a case of someone (like the Kenyans that come run for the states) just bailing somewhere random. He has real connections to Sweden and has spent real time there.
I’m as pro American as they come but it’s been documented for decades how shite the USATF is. We did this to ourselves.

Agree USTAF is shite relative to the rest of the world.

Look like he has planted his flag in Sweden.

You don’t know his backstory and going there to see his grandparents during the summer.

I read this before and found it online: Mondo Duplantis does receive a bonus each time he breaks the pole vault world record, though it's not a universal payout from all competitions. He typically receives a bonus of $100,000 from his sponsors, like Puma, for each record-breaking performance. These bonuses are usually tied to specific meets and are not a standard across all competitions
