If LSU thinks they want to play Alabama, imagine how OSU feels. At least y'all can hang your hat on a win. We are facing a situation where we never get to shut the smug bastards up.

This is where, as a fan, you need to come to grips and "know your place" in the CFB world.

If you were Oklahoma, with your resume (including the loss to Iowa State), you would be in the game with a win this weekend.

Sorry. You must win out. Not trying to be a dick, but that's the breaks when you aren't an entitled/media darling program.

Amen......IF we listen to RS or CJ we have no shot, I think it if funny that just because you line up for a field goal you automatically should have won the game. This outcome will be no different except the points scored TD's will happen this time as neither team will have anything to loose. LSU will win by 7-10 points.

What do y'all think Okie State was doing while we were playing #3 Arkansas last week?

Preparing to play a game this Saturday that could win them their conference. BAMA is simply drinking appletinis and watching The View.

quote:

And for those claiming a rematch would make November 5th "meaningless," why do you guys insist on making Okie State's game with Iowa State meaningless?

I'm not sure I see where these things equate? Both games have meaning in that they handed both teams their only loss to date. BAMA's loss, however, placed them behind their division foe and made them no longer in the hunt for their own conference title. OSU's loss to Iowa St. was just a tough road loss but did not keep them out of their conference's title hunt. A win on Saturday and OSU's in the Big 12 Champion.

quote:

Won't that game not have mattered at all if they make it to New Orleans?

Yes, but in a completely different way. Their loss would not have kept them from winning their conference, while BAMA's would have. I realize this IS NOT an official BCS criteria, but it WAS one of the largest factors for why after the 2003 season they readjusted the system to better allow the human votes (and all their wisdom) to "fix" issues like allowing a non-conference champ (see OU circa 2003 in front of SC) to get to the BCSNCG.

quote:

I'm not even arguing Bama over OSU. I'd be fine if the Cowboys made it. I am, however, arguing for logical consistency.

As am I.

quote:

But more than that, I just don't want an undeserving team--not saying OSU is undeserving, necessarily--getting put in for the SOLE reason to avoid a rematch.

Eh...I'm ok with it, really. I actually DO think that in college football a team ought to FIRST be able to at least claim it's own conference title before it goes off and attempts to claim to be the champion of the whole nation. It's what made November 5th SOOOOOOO important...win or sit at home.

quote:

It would suck to have to play Bama again, but it's better than the alternative.

I see your point, I just disagree. I agree that BAMA would be the toughest matchup, but given LSU won in Tuscaloosa with the entire world watching I like our chances in the 'Dome. But I don;t think BAMA has earned the slot based on their SECW runner-up status.

Every OSU fans knows that if we were wearing Crimson (whether is be OU's, 'Bamas, or the Other OSU), we would be win and in, OU had a worse loss than we did and they were back in the title hunt until they lost to Baylor.

That doesn't mean it is our place, and we wont accept the story the media has put down for us. Screw the old guard, Gundy has made this into a team that can compete with anyone, anytime, anywhere. We will not go quietly into the night, this team is hungry, and will do everything to shut its doubters up.

Yes, it does.

I'm sorry, but this was LSU's attitude in 2003, and look where it got us: A "split" title with a team that didn't play in the game.

Here we are, 8 years and another title later, and LSU is still hearing BS about how we really lost to Bama earlier this year, etc.

Hell, look at the other thread about Nick Saban being a guest on Gameday Saturday. There was a segment on Sportcenter this AM that was titled "IF LSU loses to UGA, do they deserve a rematch with Bama".

It will never end. LSU is having one of the greatest, if not THE greatest seasons in the history of CFB. (Note I said SEASONS, not TEAMS). Yet, all we hear about is that LSU may not deserve a chance to play Bama IF we happen to lose a game. It is bizarro world, but that is LSU's place in the CFB world.

It does make it that much sweeter when you win, though. The excuses and the spin are hilarious.

You would have loved my rant from earlier in the week. I detailed this "phenomenon" and provided examples of the ever-changing criteria for the media darlings.

To me, this is funny stuff.

Yes, I did enjoy your post.

The funniest media darling who should have been was Pollack when talking next to Erin Andrews during GameDay on Nov 5........He basically said that LSU and Bama was a wash in the special teams category! Wow, what a screw up for him huh?

Our rematch/sequel to game of the century is beginning to unravel ..... I for one am convinced that if OSU beats OU and VTech is unconvincing on Sat. that it will be Okie State vs LSU in BCS title game....
I opened this thread thinking you were going to link to some actual conversation of people with a vote making this suggestion - instead, it is your baseless prediction.

Well done.

Pollack is still embarassed bc UGA in 2003 was our Bama 2011:

The team we beat the first time, but really lost to, according to the media. Pollack, Green and company were surely going to embarass us when we met up again...

Ooops.

I think I have a different definition of "our place"

To me, "our place" is what we take for ourselves. The media may not recognize it yet, but our place is not in Oklahoma's shadow. I know where the media thinks we stand, but I don't recognize their right to tell us whether we can or can't beat Alabama, LSU, OU, or anyone else.

Where the media put us, where the coaches put us, it isn't our place.

Nope. We are on the same page my friend! Like I said, it makes it that much sweeter when you prove them wrong!

I was just providing examples for you to show, that despite LSU's strong showing this decade, our "place" in the eyes of the pundits is still behind Bama. Wins, titles, etc, will never matter to these folks, so quit worrying about what they say. Too many LSU fans here do. When I put this info down on TigerDroppings, I'm merely pointing out to everyone the hilarity of it all. (see my thread earlier this week on the media and their entitled teams).

No, but in the end, they will be pushing you out of your rightful place due to bias. That's why you have to win out at all costs, or pray for situations where everyone is stuck with the same record, a la LSU in 2003 and 2007.

Gotta' be honest...I get this. I REALLY REALLY do. On the other hand, it feels more like peer pressure...a school yard taunt than an actual argument in favor of playing BAMA.

It's like having knocked a guy down that you've been in a fight with, only to have him stand up after and declare himself the victor but he'll be magnanimous and give you ONE MORE shot to REALLY beat him.

The frick?!?

I wanted BAMA bad...in November. LSU did the deed and knocked them down, in their yard with everyone watching and for what we all tended to think at the time was for all the marbles. I'm good with that...I'm completely satisfied.

Plus, and let's be honest, if the BAMA team and fans have yet to come to grips with the loss from November 5th, what's to make anyone think they'll be ok with what is likely to be another close loss this go 'round? Are any of you suggesting that this time will be excuse free, and a total acknowledgement of defeat?

If we have to play BAMA again, so be it...but I don;t need that game to feel like LSU already is superior, because I can just go back and watch the game they already played which proved it.

when ohio st beat michigan, in 2006, by 3, in a great game. there was plenty of momentum for a rematch, that they didnt get. because, they already lost the game.

and that was before people respected the sec. that's back when those 2, along with usc. we're considered the best in the country for that year.

i honestly have no idea who will win the OU-OSU game. OU doesn't have Broyles or a dominant defense, and OSU has a strong team this year; yet OU pwns OSU since Gundy took over.

btw, is it OK for me to think that LSU would beat Bama a 2nd time in Nawlins yet still hope that OSU gets in the BCSCG? that's OK, right? asking for approval from the Tard Nation....

It's stupid, but oh so entertaining to me.

I have two kids under the age of 3. The actions of Bama and the media this year remind me of my kids when they don't get their way.

I laugh my arse off at this.

Well, if you hadn't loss, you wouldn't be facing that situation...right.

Not picking on you or your school, but that situation is your own doing.

Having said that, if you guys beat Okla and we beat Ga, I think you should be in the BCSCG facing us.

And no, I don't "fear" Bama, but I do think a 12-1 Big 12 conference champ is good enough to beat out a 11-1, non-champ of anything Bama in a "right" to play for the national title.
