You obviously have no idea how practice works.

Spring football practice is a time to fine tune your skills and WORK...not wonder if Mo is gonna make the team....or be asked by ten different reporters what you think about the female kicker tryout.

Yeah, you're right, the players have just been chillin' in the players lounge the last few days pontificating on the role of women in sports and the value of social equality.

Say what you want, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a sour taste in their mouth after Jan. 9 and I want this team focused with no distractions...all it takes is one bad game to ruin a perfect season.

Annnnnnnnnnnnd we finally get to the root of the problem. You're one of THOSE people.

IF they were gonna do this crap, they should have done it pre-spring.

Um, you mean when the NCAA forbids any organized contact? Yeah, that would've been smart.

This is when walk-ons try out. Every position and every gender. This isn't a try out for her only.

We don't have to focus on anything. The team's focus is the same place it is every year at this time.

Rummel,

Here is how its going to work...she will try out during spring practice one day when the coaches decide they have time to check her out. She wont make the team. Someone is going to cry foul. Media frenzy. OR she makes the team....Media frenzy.

It doesnt matter when it happens, its going to happen and it's going to be a distraction. What period will it be in?

well apparently you think that a girl trying out for a walk-on spot for 3rd string kicker at best is going to be some huge offseason distraction and that the team isn't even worried about winning. They're just all huddled around the lockerroom waiting on any news on whether Mo made the cut. doesn't that sound just a tad bit stupid?

You should just stop while you're behind.

I will agree that the odds are definitely against her.

Highly unlikely.

Yes, which gives the program more national exposure.

If the team can make the NCG with the ACTUAL DISTRACTIONS of last year, then I highly doubt this makes any large waves.

Shady's happening sure didn't bother this team's focus last year to start off in Dallas. Neither did the hype, the opponent, or the whole deal of losing your starting QB less than 10 days before a face-off on a neutral field against a Top 5 opponent. Nevermind your backup having only 9 days to prepare.

Let's keep going, though...

The next distraction was playing a short-week after seeing our backup (who then became our starter) getting hurt and sitting out the 2nd half before a tilt on national TV against a conference opponent ranked in the Top 15. ON THE ROAD.

Later, we took off to Morgantown for a road contest against a mad-bomber pass offense in a nationally televised night game. Didn't seem to fazed there, either.

All the while, with each win piled up, the hype & the distraction of the -0 behind the win number became a distraction in and of itself, as well.

Let's keep going, though...

We had 3 significant players suspended for synthetic dozure smoking...didn't seem to hurt us too bad.

Then we had our QB reinstate & a huge decision/distraction faced Miles. Still didn't seem to faze this team.

Ultimately, we fell short for whatever reason in New Orleans, but to say that a female kicker trying out in Spring Ball is some sort've distraction that can cause us to lose a game in the fall is a huge cry for help out of you.

Obviously you've fallen vag first into a sandpit & are desperately trying to shake it all out before it irritates you anymore.

Good luck in your quest, Brosephine.

How did she out kick brad? I love Mo and hope she makes the team but the video is obviously rigged and one person has to win a competition. Brad doesn't kick off for a reason which is because he isn't very good at it not to mention he was kicking with his left foot. In high school it was his right and he still wasn't very good at kicking off. Clearly he is playing for punting and not his kick off ability.

The season hasn't even started, and the OP is already starting an excuse list/who to blame list if we fall short again. I see it now..."Revoke Mo's diploma!" chants.

Gfunk, what so we have to show for last season? Bama has what we wanted. And we were the Tale of Two Teams all year because of those offseason distractions. Talent alone can only get you so far.

Is it so wrong to want the team to be focused on a goal rather than more Facebook and Twitter chatter?
