Guessing again based on last years money that Schimpf will be offered 150K as a college junior while Coleman will be offered 40-75K as a senior.

After developing for 3 years at LSU he could be looking at going in the top 2 rounds and $1MIL, 500K really isnt that much.

Actually I mis-spoke twice, it is Louis rather than Lewis but really it's Harold!

You know, it's possible that Heathcott, Von Rosenberg, Colvin, and Stang all sign with their pro teams.

Then what?

JT's stats

2009 [SENIOR]:
Played in all but two games for the Sooners with 55 starts (50 at catcher) ... Had a hit in 46 of those starts and reached base safely in all but seven games ... Threw out a Big 12 best 30 potential base runners this year (52 percent) and committed just two errors, good for a .996 fielding percentage ... Picked off six runners ... Finished the year ranked in the top five of six offensive categories in the Big 12 (2nd in homers and total bases, 3rd in slugging percentage and 5th in batting average and RBIs) ... Led OU in batting average, homers, slugging percentage and ranks and RBIs ... Also tops on team with 17 multiple RBI games (fourth with 19 multi-hit games) ... 29 of 62 RBIs came in two-out situations ... Had two 10-plus game hitting streaks in 2009, including a career-high 12-game streak that ended on May 10 ... Hit .449 during that span with four homers and 15 RBIs (.776 slugging pct.) ... Had a career-high seven RBIs (season high by a Sooner) in March 22 game at Kansas State ... Hit two of the Sooners' 11 home runs in that game, a Big 12 team record ... Homered in three straight games on two occasions (March 29-30 vs. Nebraska and April 25-28 vs. Baylor and Arkansas) ... Hit safely in 16 of the final 20 contests ... In Big 12 play, hit well over .300 (.363) with 10 home runs and 32 RBIs

I didn't read through all of that but he was also the Big XII player of the year.

I hate this answer but it depends.

If you are in callege but flunking out it may easier as a junior to take any offer. If you put a value on education rather than a sum of money less that 100K then anything above the 10th round is not good.

For high schoolers they have to decide if the money is worth it or to pursue an education. Also need to think about if your son is ready to live on the road with a bunch of transient baseball players at the age of 18. Unless there is serious money on the table (and that amount is subjective) I would urge a kid to go to school for just a slighly more controlled situation.

Wonder if he stays, isn't that a bit early for Ochinko?
