but im sure a full offseason there could make him adequate. He already has natural receiving skills from being a catcher
I agree. He has the height that would make a good target too. He would just need serious practice to get the footwork down. He's a hard worker though and I am sure he'd welcome the opportunity if it meant more PT.

K-Rob drafted in 32nd round by the Indians.
About time, now pull a Raph Rhymes and cut that in half in next year's draft

He's a starter and he wins. He struggled this year, yes. Can't deny it. But look how tough it is to find a 3rd starter even with what everyone thought was going to be our strength. It hasn't been easy for this staff to find solid starters.
Yeah I get it, I'm just softening the potential blow of him leaving.

Yeah, its from May 11th though. Regardless, he's still undrafted up to this point.

Until the UF game Stallings was considered the equivalent of waiving the white flag out of the bullpen while Kramer has been a rock at SS, batted very well, and continues to come up clutch.
Stallings goes in the 15th and Robertson in the 32nd. Funny how that works with college production and MLB projections.

The 2017 class may end up being even more loaded than the current class, scary thought.

Are we even sure Romero will return to LSU if it doesn't look like he'll be a starter? Maybe he wants to go somewhere he can play every day.

Saw slaughter and Hess back to back. Didn't even look at first name. Thanks for catching that.

There is a reason Kramer wasn't taken until the 32nd round, and my guess is it has nothing to do with his skillset.

Yankees just drafted Hess
I'd assume we'll still be ok here, but you never know. They drafted a HS guy with their 1st and 3rd round picks. The first round pick has a slot value of $2.44MM and the Yankees have $5.8MM in the total bonus pool. Their first 5 picks were HS, JUCO, or JR guys, but their last in the 6th through 10th were SRs, so they'll likely have some money to throw around.
To give you an example of how that can work, there was a guy last year that was drafted with a slot value of $299K, but he was a senior and signed for only $20k, which was $279K that could go to other picks. That is why the picks outside of the first 3-4 rounds can be pretty wild.

I they can overslot sign him from there it was never gonna happen anyway. I can't imagine he doesn't show up there has to be a point where your pride takes a hit. I know he was expecting to way higher than that.

Also, FWIW, a bonus of $300k is roughly the slot value equivalent of being drafted in the 5th round. If you can save $200k somewhere else, you can throw that plus the $100k allotted to a pick in the 11th-40th rounds, and that is how you sign a HS kid drafted in the 35th round.
That being said, they Yankees drafted 9 HS guys between the 11th and when Hess was signed, so who knows what they'll have left over.

Nah it should never be a pride thing if you have any inkling how the draft works as a HS prospect. If you get Top 5 round money, who cares where you were selected, ya know?
I'm not trying to make a case one way or the other, just explaining how it works this late.
