I'll take Miles' aggressive calls any day over some dumbass conservative twit who's to afraid to do anything out of the ordinary.

Keep it up, Coach!

The onside kick took a bounce into the kickers face mask as he was trying to fall out of the way. And then Alabama got no points from the ensuing drive, then LSU took the ball 90 yards for a TD. The onsides kick did not hurt LSU in any way shape or form. I cant say that for the other 3 though.

1 The fake field goal on 4 and 12, when everyone could see that Alabama was playing a "field goal safe defense;"

2 The failed 54 yard field goal attempt, when your kickers best is from 44 yards;

3 The failed onside kick attempt, which was poor execution because he didn't kick the ball 10 yards;

4 The failed 4th and 1 in which they shouldn't have been so predictable.

#2 and #3 weren't bad calls necessarilly.

I know the ball bounced badly, but that's why it's an execution problem, and not neccessarily a bad call. It still falls on Miles because he's the head guy. I really think that Hairston was to excited. A half second later and it would have been a great call. I didn't like the 54 yard field goal. I didn't think he could make it and he wasn't even close.

Actually you can. After the fake field goal Bama went 3 and out.

Wahootiger, are you a member of the staff?

No, I'm not. I'm also not the one claiming to know what plays are "only on Miles" and which ones aren't. My only point is this: while it is fair to criticize miles for the calls you mentioned, in order to be fair, you must also give him credit for the good calls he made. You shouldn't fault him for the bad ones while failing to give him credit for the good calls as well.

Agreed. 4th & 12 asking your Kicker to run 19yds (or just kick the FG)... why not run a Fake punt (yes I know further back) where the punter can actually still punt it before the line of scrimmage and has time to recognize the return called. You had 2 other options that are far better.

Oh! Wahootiger, do you know what specific good calls he made? I don't. I'm not privy to LSU in game headphones. Your answer is going to be that you don't know either. We don't know as the fanbase. Thus, we are left to speculate. However, there are certain calls that a coach hinges his career and reputation on. If he gets these wrong, he could lose his job. These usually are your game changing 4th down calls. That's what I based my assumption on.

Why does LSU even pay Miles ...there are about 15,000 ranters who could game plan for Tigers for free

I base my assumption that, as the head coach, he has a hand in most, if not all, of the calls. That means giving him credit for the good and the bad.

You do realize that every one of your points are littered with contradictions?

I'm quite sure the entire offensive strategy was set by Miles, including the expanded passing game.

Alot of people fail because they try and do too much. You have to delegate responsibility and let that job be theirs. Coaches in general have a "time management" problem; thus, assistant coaches. However, sometimes you have guys with the reputation of being an offensive or defensive coach, and they are a little more hands on. They may call the plays for that unit. That withstanding, Miles doesn't have either of those monikers. He is more of a manager and recruiter. From my position, I can only speculate that he gives the basic philosophy of how he wants the plays called, then in intervenes at certain times. That's 1 of the reasons I come to this site, to get a nugget from someone who knows.

It hit his hand dude. That happened at 9.73 yards. It's not like he didn't kick it 10 yards. That was a fluke.

So its Miles' fault because Hairston got excited? Is that what you want to hang your hat on?
I hope you didn't hurt yourself with that stretch.

That is funny, but if you've coached, you know that you have to prompt young people before they go in to make a big play. One thing that is a constant, young people are excitable. Old football knowledge, you practice something a hundred times, just to do it once.

I actually felt Hairston's pain. He just wanted to make a play for his team, but he touched the ball too soon.
