Kansas would kill to have him.

Hell, now that I think about it, we need a coach that can go 5-1 or 6-0 in our division almost every year. That's a very tough task

But form the list of coaches being discussed on this board, who could come in and have instant success in the toughest division in the country?

Fisher
C. Kelly
Herman
Briles
Kiffin
Dantonio?

Who can beat Saban and Freeze?

You all are throwing around a lot of names to come coach here, but which of these coaches could actually beat Saban and Freeze within 3 years? That should be one of the major considerations. If they can't consistently beat our rivals, we don't need them, no matter how big their name is.
Of course I am saying that "anybody could win here" loosely. And I know that there are many guys out there with better resumes and more coaching experience in and around this region, but he 3 years of beating FBS programs with his FCS squad. I think North Dakota State are the new Appalachian St. giant killers. Going into Iowa and beating them, when his program has already earned a reputation as a tough program to play, means that they are prepared and motivated. I think he has earned consideration outside of our Top-10.

Anyhow, he would be my "Diamond in the rough." And I just looked read about his predecessor Craig Bohl's lack of success at Wyoming, but if Les could win here, almost anyone can.

we don't need to go cheap

I know. But compared to Briles, who is a proven commodity but too close to the bad publicity at Baylor, I rather see us take a chance on a young start-up. It's not easy going into Iowa and beating them with inferior takent. Hell, we couldn't do it with Les at Wisconsin, a team that wasn't as good as Iowa last year.

No crack here, but I am looking at my Crystal Ball.

I agree with the UK or Vandy programs being the "entry-level" SEC jobs, but this guy could be around for 20 years if he could adjust to the SEC football, and he'll be cheap.

Recruiting our region aside, he has the resume of a perfect start-up.
We did lose to some pretty good teams, but I'm in Aggieland and that's what they say all the time. That thought alone is depressing.

Miles was also 4 or 5 and 0 vs. Florida in 2007. I guess these things even out.

I think you're right. I'm just upset because we should actually be undefeated right now. If we would have had the offensive output against Florida, that we had this weekend, we'd have beatenly them easily.

Sean Peyton disagrees with you.

You are very correct on that one.

You know bama has a pretty good defense right? We did well against them.

LSU has "sinful" talent on both sides of the ball and special teams. It's just unfortunate that it's not utilized to it's best ability.

In fact, I don't think Miles called the fake fg because he thought it would work. He called because it would make him seem like a genius. I was shocked, just utterly shocked when they ran. The fake fg was an omg, what was he thinking moment. I agree that the onside kick was bad bounce, but that's why you usually run them at the end of the game.

I thought the onside kick was a great call. I didn't think the fake field goal was that smart with 12 yards, but if it would have worked everyone would be saying Les is a genius. maybe his Kicker kicks 54 yds at practice so why not the game?? He has had pretty good luck with 4th @ 1, so why not..

No way any of this is good. We beat them last year in their stadium because we won the special teams game. It's not ironic the we lost when we took unneccesary chances. We had a lot of bad calls, and it cost us by keeping bama in the game. I for one, hate field goals. Field goals are a fail. You prevent them by calling good first down plays.

Going back all the way through the 2010 season LSU has played a total of 22 SEC games (8 in 2010, 9 in 2011, and 5 thus far this year) and they have given up a total of 327 points in those 22 games for a total of 14.86 per game. So I guess if that was the first thing the coaching staff would discuss then they must have thought they would win with 17 points.

I'll give you credit for this one. I calculated those stats 2 days ago, but I threw my scratch paper away. I remembered that we're giving up 15 points per SEC game this year and it was 10 points last year and 18 points in 2010.

Really? It's called "Goal Oriented Planning." Yeap, it has an official name. Maybe you should try it. You start with, "I want to be right. What should I now say?"

Dahulk LSU is a closet bama fan but doesn't

:rotflmao: In the Fall of 2010, I was driving Alabama, and I stopped at a gas station at maybe 7AM. I walked in to pay and quickly realized that everyone was wearing either a bama or auburn shirt. I wanted to fight. I wish I would have had my LSU cap with me.
Oh because the coach's job is to predict the future and determine how many points they need now?

Yes! That's exactly what he is supposed to do. You start your meeting off by saying the last time we played these guys, this is what happened. Any planning should have started with how they would bridge or over come 21 - 0. Any planning starts with where you are, and then to where you need to go. Over the past 3 years LSU has average giving up 17 points per game in the SEC. He should have planned to score at least 21 points. Further, we'd given up a last minute touchdown to USCe and aTm, so, realistically, I was praying bama wouldn't score, but I wasn't shocked when they did.
