Some of you never get it- this is not an OC issue- we have had multiple OCs and the issue is still here

I saw a guy who realizes that his basic philosophy toward the game isn't working anymore. This is why he is taking the blame and saying things have to change and it starts with him needing to be a better game planner. It's extremely hard for him to admit this because it has worked well for him for so long which is why he seems so out of it.

If he's going to retire at the end of the year, he needs to let it be known now before the coaching crop gets eaten up by mediocre programs.

I know the OC gets the blame on any under performing team, but our DL is not exactly winning any awards for greatness, either. DBU? Not.

They already have. Did you watch the game last night?
I believe Miles when he said the team did not quit after the Bama game. Instead, we got beat by a better team.
Arkansas at this point in the season has a better team than LSU. They did to us on a smaller scale what Bama did the previous week--beat us on both sides of the line.
Again, Arkansas has a better team than LSU--that's why we lost.

How is this possible? Shitty coaching? Shitty scouting? or players just not caring anymore after getting stomped on by Alabama?

I pulled a 15 hour bender after the game last night who cares about spelling?

Everyone saying he is an "honorable man." how do you know that? Are you personal friends with him or something? You have no idea what he's really like other than what you read in the paper.
I've met him in private settings where he has no fear of a tarnished image being publicized. Additionally I have a very close friend who is close with the family. He's even nicer and more genuine than you'll ever be.
This is not a defense of his ability to coach but a clarity on his personality.

seems normal to me. Blaming himself like always. Thought defense played hard except for 3 plays. Left tackle is nicked. sounds like Les to me.

I don't know. Not my place to inquire, but I agree with everyone that something seems off.

Here's what we do know:
We get some of the highest quality recruits year after year. Louisiana is a hot bed for home grown talent that dreams of playing in tiger Stadium.
That talent rarely seems to surface. We seemingly are very consistent underachievers.
THAT lays squarely on the Coaches.
This is 100% correct

I've seen this show before. Nothing's gonna come of it. He's not going anywhere.

what issue is that? 59 yards rushing, 271 yards passing. If you cant run the ball in this league you will not win.
How is arkansas winning? they went back to running the ball and stopped slinging it around like they did at the beginning of the season.

Arkansas runs a much more sophisticated offense than we do. More elaborate play action / use of TEs in the passing game consistently / short passing game / misdirection.
We run straight at you and try to set up the long downfield pass off of play action. We may run a couple token screens / slants but not enough of it for teams to really have to gameplan against it.

Anyone know if there might've been more to the "coffee" incident? Ever since then this year he just hasn't seemed like his normal self. I definitely think there is something else going on behind the scenes with him. Maybe his health or family. Something just hasn't seemed right with Miles lately.
Everybody here sees the same thing, he looks exhausted. To me he seems to have lost weight, but his face seems fatter. The facial muscles seem more fat, or relaxed. At the same time his voice seems different too. Just seems "off" from the same Miles over the years.

I agree. His demeanor at the presser was the first time I have seem him look like a defeated man. After previous losses, he seemed determined to move forward. Last night was different.

quote:Correct. However, he doesn't see it as reason enough for him to vacate. Absent any another explanation, he simply believes it's some mysterious and yet-to-be-named force that's responsible for it. And that, my friends, is the central issue. Until somebody in authority challenges him on it, he'll use this ploy until the cows come home. There are no consequences for his bizarre behavior.
After this game nobody can deny that he just isn't getting it done anymore. Even he realizes now.

You guys need Malzahn. He would be a great fit.
