There were 7 pages on this yesterday and I will repeat my opinion that execution simply doesn't "just happen". It requires discipline and focus on every detail no matter how minute. Then repetition, repetition, repetition.

ETA: and just an FYI for those that have never played sports....you can get all the coaching, teaching, and training in the world, but you still have to execute what you've been taught.

Ability to execute boils down to two things: Not running the play as designed, or being stopped by the opposition.
Miles always indicates that the former is this issue. Hence his comments of "we'll watch the film and get this fixed."
However, it's when the other team is obviously blowing up plays, it's the lack of adjustment that infuriates the fan base. It's as if Miles believes his players need to focus more, and it has nothing to do with the guys lined up across from his.
Brandon Harris throwing the ball low or a FB whiffing on a block is lack of execution. Having 3 defenders in the backfield as soon as Fournette touches the ball is getting beat at the point of attack.
Early on LSU was able to out muscle and exploit a stacked box. Once defenders were able to shoot the gaps consistently in November the run game became a liability.

but for some reason not consistently in the games.
I posted a week or so ago wondering if practices were too soft, especially coverage and pass rush. I know it's a fine line between challenging practices and injury risks, but the players don't seem up to the task when opponent brings it.

there are other factors than coaching involved whrn you qb is as inaccurate as BH in throwing the ball. I just can't imagine him being that bad in the bowl game (as aggy game) but it's possible.
if he is, i'd pull him and put in Jennings. at least give him a shot.

I got eyes and I see overthrown passes, missed blocks, and other poor executed plays. when a player fricks up, it IS an execution error. maybe it was due to lack of coaching and maybe it was not. hell, it could be to OVER COACHING, esp at the qb position. I've had battling coaches (baseball of course) that analyzed my approach so thouroghly that I couldn't even breath when I got in the box. it's called paralysis by analysis.

I've often thought that one of Miles' strengths (sort of a strength by happenstance, or addition by subtraction) is not "paralyzing" certain players with analysis/overcoaching. If you look at the positions where LSU has had great development (e.g., DL and DB), they are positions where Miles isn't very hands-on, whereas other offensive positions, where he is very hands-on, haven't developed as well.
I've often thought that one of Miles' strengths (sort of a strength by happenstance, or addition by subtraction) is not "paralyzing" certain players with analysis/overcoaching. Execution, we lost our fat tightend that's basically a legal motioning offensive tackle and starting fullback, young and inexperienced team... He has loads of bullshite excuses in the "hat"

I think he gets that. He just brings that up in response to questions about him and Cam's play calling. He is saying that play calling isn't as bad as everyone thinks because many of the passing calls that everyone screams for aren't executed when they are called

apparently you don't really watch LSU football. Lee still started after JJs return. JJ was only put in after Lee threw 2 interceptions against bama.
