no jealousy from me. Miles presided over a big-time, big-money football program. I may have a problem with the size of the buyout that Alleva gave him, but that's not Miles' fault.

“Became infuriating”

Yeah, LSU football there’s been so much more productive in the last two years.

Let’s just ignore the fact that the 2017 offense, while playing the weakest schedule in 20 yrs, gained less yds and scored fewer points than the 2015 O.

This is just me, but I’m going to wait and see what the 2018 offense/team Does before I complain too much about what past coachesi/teams produced.

Miles' Offense:

Now thats an ideal series and doesnt include the penalties.

That wasn’t a quote from Diaz.

Given who that university subsequently hired as a replacement I wouldn't put too much stock in their ability to evaluate coaching.

Yeah, there isn’t a quote from Diaz anywhere similar to that in that douchebag’s article. And there certainly isn’t one from “every other SEC DC” like your douchebag thread title.

I was sitting in my living room and I called the play before it happened correctly about 80% of the time. And I never played football or have any expertise other than being a fan. So it's not that big a stretch to think that the DC were doing a better job than me. Doesn't mean that some of those plays didn't work because of better talent on the line and world class running backs. But almost every time we played someone who had equal or greater talent in the line, we lost.

What drove me nuts was when we would run a "trick play" or at least something different it almost always was successful but would never be run twice in the same game. Miles problem was that after the year of pick sixes he was afraid to let his quarterbacks pass much. An interception meant you would likely come out of the game or at least the handcuffs would come on and all running plays from then on,

And yet all great quarterbacks throw interceptions. But they also throw many more touchdowns. Let's hope we are going to finally set the offense free and we will see all the passes and routes and not just the play action go for broke and the straight shot across to the sideline.

There's nothing wrong with the I formation anyways. It's all in how it's run.

Agree 1000%. The iron with the "Les is running the Bo Schembechler offense" the Bo "I" running game was much more creative and less predictable than Les.

Starting a thread to bitch about the offense of a coach gone two years when the current coach just last season had an offense even less productive than the offense some want to bitch about doesn’t make much sense to me.

Of course, when everyone for years has been concerned about our offense, it doesn’t make much sense to hire a D line coach either.

Perhaps that's why Canada was canned. Meddling or not.

Figured I'd poke the hive a bit.

Which is why that offense never won a game!!!!

Well that’s a bit of a reach. JaMarcus won many games with his arm. Matt Flynn as well.

The good thing about Ensminger is he could approach this with the “frick it” attitude and have an offensive that takes shots constantly. He’s got nothing to lose why not run a TX Tech/Ole Miss style offense? It’s exciting as hell & we have the D to back it

Once again it's Miles fault an o led team lost a game.

IT'S NOT O'S FAULT!

Y’all do know that Miles was fired because he consistently lost to teams inferior to his? Arkansas was probably the main reason. He didn’t get cut because he couldn’t beat bama. It was those other nonsense losses. Like WISCONSIN

This.
Not saying anything about his offense good or bad. Just saying that he isn't coaching because he doesn't want to be coaching.
Before any "he said he wants to coach again" or "he interviewed for..." because he had to. Doesn't mean he had to try hard in his interview.

I love it when the other team knows exactly what you're going to do - and STILL can't stop it.

You think those Nebraska offenses of the 1990s were unpredictable?

that 2007 game was a classic, but results like that are exceedingly rare. It all worked, but it's no way to run an offense, week-in and week-out.

I love this argument. Nebraska's offense back then was incredibly unpredictable. The FORMATION was predictable, but the offense had multiple options every down, and the defense had NO IDEA who was going to get the ball, when, and what direction.

The same formation doesn't necessarily mean predictable. I've always said Les could've still run a primarily ground and pound offense, if he didn't TELEGRAPH his plays. Run off tackle from a 4 WR set. Throw from a 2 TE set.

Just keep the defense off-balance and guessing. Far too often, he didn't.

I miss the early Les. The "riverboat gambler". From the SC fake FG game to the UF fake FG to the 2007 UF game and the last second throw to Byrd. Even when it didn't work out at least you knew the guy was going balls to the wall to win games. Somewhere along the way he parted ways with the gambler and you knew his time had run its course.

I've had my share of frustration with Les, but ultimately I'll appreciate his time at LSU as some of the most exciting and successful in the program's history.
