Let's just forget about the fact he led our offense to 8 straight TD drives at one point this season.

And let's not forget he hasn't worked hard enough to win the job. If he doesn't put the work in the film room and learn he's not going to play

I cannot believe the amount of people on this site that want to stick with Jennings.

Unreal.

I know, Tennessee completed 30 passes in Bama and Arkansas completed 20.

Jennings went 8/26 but we dropped some passes at the same time. Harris needs to play in the last 2 games and the bowl game. The extra time off on break should be great for the young guys gaining momentum into the bowl and into the spring. Miles is going to force Harris to take the job. He won't just give it to him. Dude needs to put in the work.

These things are not black and white. No coach knows how his players will perform in games with 100% certainty. There was a reason Beckwith didn't start Day 1 and it didn't have anything to do with not wanting to hurt Welter's feelings. All I said was we don't know all of those reasons. And, yes, some of those reasons may have proven to be false with hindsight. I don't think it is fair to point to the Beckwith situation and extrapolate that into something like, "Miles doesn't play the best players so we will never see Harris again".

IMO, If the coaches thought Harris gave us the best chance to win, he would be playing. They are not convinced that he gives us that so he is not playing. And, as much as anyone on this board thinks they are convinced that Harris gives us a better chance to win, it is at best a hunch.

My concern is that Miles will stick with AJ (like he stuck with Welter -clearly longer than he needed to)

I simply want people to own their choice. Say what you will about AJ, but you know what you have. You dont know what you have in an offense with Harris. Why does everyone think that once Harris is in there we will go to 3-4 wide with a spread? My whole thing is simple, the offense with AJ is capable of winning these last two games. The offense with Harris? Who knows. Could be awesome, though I doubt, but it could be horrendous, I doubt also. My hang up with it is the ones calling for Harris to start would call for Miles job if he loses to Arkansas with Harris.

As if you know with 100% certainty that Beckwith would be playing at this level throughout the year

I didn't say Beckwith would be playing at a high level...I implied he couldn't have been any worse than Welter...you know, upside and all!!...but spin away.

Just like BH couldn't be much worse than AJ so why not give him a shot. you've already stated youd like to see that yourself.

The difference on the outcome of a game from a Middle Linebacker to the Quarterback is significant.

I can agree with majority of what u have posted. I can agree that miles needs to start splitting reps between both qbs, but only in the way that it helps Harris get game experience. I've seen many young qbs start this year if not play in a few games and if sitting him on the bench I'd going to help him. He might as well just wait until spring training. It's hard to see him on the sideline waiting to redeem himself and also show his teammates what he is capable of. Give the guy a chance and not late in the 4th quarter.

then Harris had a lot to do with the Auburn lose.

*loss

anyways, jennings played half of that game and didn't lead the team to ANY points against auburn. at least harris led the team to 7 points.

the defense shite the bed in that game.

Agreed. Im just pointing out you cant give Harris a pass for the hole he put us in against Auburn and say Jennings didnt matter against Ole Miss and Bama.

He should have NEVER started at auburn in the first place. That wasn't the environment to throw him out there. Def should have started one of the earlier games at home against a patsy.

If Harris plays and throws only 3 passes to wide open receivers, doesn't fumble, and runs for 75 yards, we win the remaining games. Same for Jennings. Its a toss up. You get nothing less and nothing more with Harris or Jennings. But if you start Harris, you get two games worth of valuable experience going into a bowl game and next year and an opportunity to get his passing game in gear if he really has one. We know Jennings absolutely does not have one no matter how many games he starts.

One would think so, but when it's really bad there's only one way to go: up. It happened with Beckwith, and while i recognize QB is much more complicated, the mitigating factor is that with defense, this Oline, and RBs, all you need is a game manager with an occasional need to move the chains on 3rd down.

Those relatively minimal requirements shouldn't put too much pressure on a new QB yet still provide a chance to win against these next 2 opponents, esp if you only put him in for a half.

It really can't get much worse. We're already at the bottom of the FBS - only 17 teams are worse out of about 130, and most of those 17 coaches will be unemployed in a few weeks.
