Yep.

The coaches knew with 100% certainty that Beckwith was better than Welter in every way but decided not to play him exclusively because "frick it".

Got news for you there is no way in hell that Harris sticks it out at LSU if Jennings is the starting QB next year. The kid has way too much talent to stick around for one year of playing time. Not going to happen. If he is not named the starter after spring look for him to leave.

Absolutely not. The few snaps Beckwith got we could see his talent. We knew it was just a matter of time because his ceiling is so much higher.

Before the season talking heads were raving about Harris talent and arm strength and speed, with many predicting he'd be starting by the end of the season.

Yeah he shite the bed against AU, but we saw everything everyone was talking about against Miss St.

Beckwith and Harris are two examples. I'd also argue that Mettenberger should have started his junior year over JJ too. Imagine how much better he would have been his Sr year.

It is certainly conceivable. I hope not.

The only reason Welter got benched was because the D performance got that bad. If Welter was at least " serviceable" , he'd probably still be playing today, and while that would be better than where we were, we wouldn't be nearly as good as we are now because of Beckwith. This is the exact scenario I fear with AJ /Harris.

I do agree with this. We don't know why it took as long as it did to make the switch for Beckwith, but it is understandable that something finally "clicked" with Beckwith (in addition to Welter being bad). He had to be "worked in" before earnings the starting role. The QB decision is also a short term decision. Now is not the time to play any QB for next year. I guess I am in the camp that thinks the coaching staff understands better than any of us which QB gives the team the best chance to win.

I don't, for a second, think Miles plays upperclassmen for the sake of playing upperclassmen. If he's playing upperclassmen, it's because all else is equal or the underclassmen can't perform consistently at their level. Miles has proven that he's willing to play underclassmen when they are better.

Its more a situation where we are always seemingly reactive rather than proactive...at least when it comes to recognizing who should be on the field. Deny it if you want.

How can you say this:

Right after you just said this:

Well maybe you should go over to his house and let him know that. I agree BTW...just have a hard time believing that it will happen. AJ is a nice back-up QB for this team but I just don't see him being able to complete 60%+ of his passes.

should CLM have kept BH in throughout the Auburn game?

I swear.. you arm chair quarterbacks and your damn hindsight. the season is not over. It would be much worse if there are losses to Ark and jizzjar-U.

Chill out and wait to make this an offseason thread

In not saying Harris starts from here on. I'm saying get him some consistent PT.

As for offseason thread, if AJ goes in to the offseason without Harris having any meaningful PT, AJ will be the starter next August and we'll be having this discussion again next year.

Harris himself admitted on twitter that he hasn't put in the hardwork needed to be the starter. Why should miles reward him with the job?

Obviously you missed the Jordan Jefferson years. Welcome to the LSU fan base, though.

I'd hate to see Harris sit the bench and not have a shot to compete on the field

And, I seem to remember that Harris did have a shot against Aubie. He struggled just as bad has AJ has against good competition.

What's there to deny? Every single argument in this vein is pulled completely out of one's arse. As if you know with 100% certainty that Beckwith would be playing at this level throughout the year if he'd started from day 1 and the coaches are amateurs that are in over their head. Guess what... Beckwith played a lot earlier in the year and often looked lost and no better than Welter. Luckily for us, Beckwith has improved GREATLY and will be start for us until he moves onto the NFL.

Just like the coaches, apparently everything we needed to know about Harris was from 1 half against Auburn. Let's just forget about the fact he led our offense to 8 straight TD drives at one point this season.

Pre season goals, with the exception of a bowl game (insert 2nd tier bowl at best here) are history. Time to make the switch with someone who is generally considered to have a lot more upside than Jennings. I understand why Miles has played Jennings to this point but the season is basically over now and he should , at a minimum, get the guy some playing time. But he wont..

I'd rather not play Harris this weekend. It will be freezing, maybe snowing. No need and screw with his confidence any more than needed. Let him start against A&M. We should light up their defense and it would give him some confidence.
