How do you expect Miles to be an AD when he can't even manage a damn clock?

What’s the opinion of Skips tenure as AD? I’ve always believed that he did a fine job considering he was just an old baseball coach before that. Why couldn’t Les do an equally fine job?

Well, I think he could do the job
He ran a great football program here. People criticizing his timekeeping are missing the point; as an AD, he'd be about structuring and coordinating the overall athletic department, and making hires.
The program never dipped below 8 wins in the 11 years he was here, so he's used to running a successful program. He made several very good hires (Aranda, Pellini, etc), and also good-on-paper hires (the NFL guys, Crowton and Cameron).
People bitched about his friendships and loyalty, but the fact remains that he was able to get failed assistants "hired at other opportunities" rather than fire them. That's a pretty good business skill, and keeps good relations and reputations across the athletic community.
I think he'd have dug in and stood his ground on things Alleva let us get butt-fricked on, like the Florida games, etc.
Don't think he'd have let Jones turn down the NIT, either- that was just an unprofessional act. Team plays for the school, the fans and all players, not just for the superstar.
Despite his unusual speaking patterns, Miles wasn't a dummy, he did graduate from Michigan; and you can hire beancounters as assistants.
You need someone with balls to negotiate things and get what's best for LSU, and I think Alleva got steamrolled a few times.

I DONT WANT MILES WITHIN 5000 MILES OF ANYTHING TO DO WITH LSU FOOTBALL.

No other school in the nation is wanting to hire him as a coach.
That's probably more due to the fact that he's over 60 than anything else. Programs that are in the market for a new coach generally hire younger since they want someone who will stick around more than a handful of years.
There are exceptions of course but it's generally true nonetheless.

He couldn't even hire a good O coord but you want him as AD?

It sucked when he hired Miles.

Yeah, it's kind of funny that Herm Edwards who is the same age as Miles gets a head coaching job at Arizona State, but Les Miles, one of the greatest coaches of all time, can't get a job coaching for crap. Obviously, it's because nobody is stupid enough to believe that he actually earned that outstanding record. They kind of know that Miles was far more a liability than he was an asset in his tenure at LSU. Hence, they avoid that incompetent like the plague and I can't say that I blame them.
Not to mention, that Edwards has been out of coaching for years and has never coached college football in his life.

Well wait a minute. Didn't he get the Tennessee job , or was he overlooked again ? And Miles for AD. That is absolutely the most stupid thing ever posted on a board where idiots reign supreme.

Right. I'm sure if Saban decided he was tired of Tuscaloosa and wanted to try his hand somewhere else, he wouldn't be getting any calls because he's over sixty years old.
