I know - it was horrible how we gave that game away. Oh wait...

You're one of the idiots who probably thought the second half game plan was aggressive.

If Miles couldn't watch the second half and realize that Miss State's offense was starting to click, and 21 points might not be enough to win this game, then that's an issue.

seems to have worked out

Les isn't afraid to lean on the defense

If we gonna play the "if" game, "if" we don't have big penalties negating TDs and big plays...that FG try doesn't mean anything.

This contributed to the mass exodus of defensive players to the NFL draft after 2012. Straight from one of those that left. Some felt that they were left to carry the weight of the team and all the plays they were on the field were "risks" to their bodies.

When Les is confident in the QB and WRs, Les is not afraid to throw. In 2013, we had a downfield passing game despite having one of the most talented running backs (Jeremy Hill) of the Les Miles era.

Les will eventually get there with Harris but it's going to be a gradual process. Our fan base is just too impatient.

As for the game, LSU nearly beat itself. To be sure Dak played great down the stretch but we should have scored at least 10 more points and we played sloppy. The penalties against us came at the absolute worst time. Thankfully, the football gods evened things out with Miss State's in opportune delay of game penalty. But LSU was a two TD better team than Miss State on Saturday, even in Starkville.

I did not like the fact that we left the game in their hands, but I liked what I saw of this team (sans the penalties) for a first game of the season SEC West road win.

Can't wait for Saturday!

Actually Miss. State gave that game away!!

Where do you guys come from? Did you miss the big plays on holding penalties made by LSU? Again, who attempted to give the game away?

3 sacks on Dak and 43 yards rushing on 26 attempts by the defense and you come up with Miss State gave the game away?

The ONLY team that potentially gave the game away was LSU. Statements like that takeaway from the effort these guys put on the field away from home in their first against a quality opponent.

The issue with offense is not passing vs running IMO. Th problem is predictability of offense. For example, they could get the ball to LF by screen pass, running wide, shovel pass, reverse. etc but they line up and do exactly what defense is prepared for.

So out of these players, which one said he left because he the defense had to carry the team?

Was it Mingo, Montgomery, Minter, Logan who were all 4th year players who opted out of a 5th year.

Reid who was a 1st rounder

Mathieu who got kicked off the team

Or was it Simon?

Well, Reid was gone as a Junior anyway and so was Mingo and Mathieu. So it would have been fruitless coming from them.

he was a RS junior

like half the most of the juniors who left after 2012

people got upset because these 4 year players left "early" when in reality they didn't take their 5th year because they were good enough not to ned

I don't like relying on the opposing team missing a field goal to win games with no time left. that cannot be a long range successful strategy

we all remember mett's last Alabama loss. met looked all-pro all day and on our last possession miles wouldn't let him throw the ball. we gave it back and bama scored.

apparently we don't remember the same game. Mett's last year Alabama won 38-17. mett looked all pro? the o-line had completely given up and was allowing him to get walloped. he refused help to get back on his feet (I didn't blame him). what game were you watching?

Point taken but those penalties weren't on the last play of the game with the outcome hanging in the balance. Should have never come down to that kick....and would not have if we would have cut our D a break and forced the State D out of the box a bit with a few more pass attempts.

Considering the last time we opened our season against a team that had already played a game we got walloped, I'm willing to give them a pass on this one. We'll see how we look this week.

Mark Dantonio coaches a lot like miles. no surprise there.

Except the fact that Dantonio passes the ball a good deal.

Michigan St has had a good defense, good run game, and good passing game for the past 4 of the past 5 years. The least he has thrown in the last 10 years, is 373 times in one year. He has thrown at least 399 passes 6 of his 8 years at MSU, and at least 390 passes 7 of his 8 years at MSU. He's thrown at least 400 times per year since 2011. He's already thrown 63 times this year. His two previous multi year starting QBs have or are starting in the NFL (Cousins and Hoyer), and Connor Cook will be going first round this year.

Stomp that neck til he stops moving. I hate it that we don't put teams away, but State adjusted as the game went on - Les, well . . . he just did what he always does.
But he won.
Time to make a statement and knock Auburn out of the race.

Yet had Harris thrown a pick in the 4th quarter, ya'll would all be screaming "we have a 14 point lead in the damned 4th quarter, POUND THE frickIN' ROCK!"

Miles is clueless with his comments, particularly anything about the QBs.

He needs to get out of the way, or we risk losing a winnable game, imv.
