The investigation is ongoing, there has been no resolution yet, therefore he can be fired with cause. It's plain as fricking day in his contract. Everybody saying I need a lawyer, do u think lsu won't have lawyers on this to save millions? They already have people on this promise you that, just incase it is needed as a trump card.

If and when the time comes, he'd be at the top of the list only after it's been determined that he wants to coach in college for the duration and not return to the NFL after a few years. That would be my worry with Chuckie. (Coach here a few seasons, have success and then be lured back to the NFL leaving LSU up the shite creek without a paddle again).....

If LSU was going to fire him over the McCarthy violations, it should have been over the past off-season, not one season removed from the violations. Some lawyer would probably have a field day with firing Miles "with cause" over a year later.

This all depends on what the NCAA has to say abou the "violations". They have been too busy to even look into them.........

Unlike the original poster, who is merely in serious need of legal counsel, you should never, ever leave the house without a lawyer.

You may have to fulfill your end of the contract, but it doesn't prohibit Miles from being fired.

We know he can be fired, the point is that it would be expensive

But not because of the "fire at will statute". Once the contract is in play, the statute isn't.

As has already been said. The payout would have to be paid, but I can't see anything that would prohibit LSU from firing him at will here.

the problem is with the use of this term which has certain legal connotations. LSU can fire him if they chose. if they do, they are breaching the contract and have to pay the penalties. while they can fire him, it is a breach of contract, not an "at will" dismissal.

Question:

Butch Davis will be fired for cause at the end of the season.

Let's say Miles gets fired and the university tries to get out or reduce the buy out by using the McCartney NCAA violations. Can they then turn around and hire Butch Davis? How would fans respond to that hire?

If/when CLM is fired, the 2 sides will get together to negotiate a buyouot.

The more "Cause" the university has, the less the buyout number will be.

Right now they aint got much "cause".

("Cause he aint got a brain" don't count)
