My god if I see that retard at QB again, I just might drive over to Les Miles' office and bitch slap him. It's either Mettenberger or Lee at QB, that abomination Les Miles calls a starter should get his scholarship pulled.

I really find it enjoyable when people use defensive players to talk about how Miles plays Freshman.

There's a reason Chavis asked for total control of the defense after his first year, when he flirted a bit with Richt & Georgia.

It's because he wasn't the guy that wanted Cheese Alexander starting. Someone else had him there.

But, go ahead and "ask for a link" or discredit because folks have honest criticism of Miles.

I've denigrated and downgraded, belittled and made fun of Studrawa, but I can tell you this...He doesn't get the final say so on who plays & who goes in for injuries (hint hint) when it comes to the offensive line.

There are other coaches who have their authority in terms of who plays the position on the field usurped by our head coach frequently.

Mettenberger is without question the best quarterback on campus. Jefferson is the best athlete. Lee probably has a better knowledge of the offense as it stands now than anyone.

If you take Miles at his word that they aren't changing the offense, then Jefferson is your best bet, since the offense was tailored to fit him.

Mettenberger isn't a guy who can run the Read Option. He can't run strong side or short-side option keepers.

Neither is Lee.

What this tells me is that-just as I've posted before-that the dunce cap slapped down hard onto Crowton's head wasn't all that deserved, either.

If this is the same offense as last year, only simplified, then its troublesome. The offense last year was already simplified by the three new offensive assistants.

The reasoning was that Jordan could not understand nor execute it properly. Not a knock on Jefferson, as perhaps no FBS QB could've.

But, if we're simplifying it even more?

Well, let's just say we will look to see Kragthorpe's real influence come in 2012.

Or, something truly troublesome for all of you:

If LSU is truly successful in 2011 running this offense, then look for Randall to get an opportunity to play the position in 2012.

Which means we'd have never given either Russell Shepard or Mett a real chance at playing the QB position at LSU.

The last bits a huge bit of conjecture, but based on how we've treated kids, managed the roster & recruiting, then again it may not be.

Wow, you people need to calm down a little bit. Even if Mett was outplaying the other two, what good does it do for Miles to come out and say he's got the edge as the number one. Not a bit of good, this could be a motivational tactic. Not to mention the kid has only been practicing for two weeks as opposed to the years the others have spent here.

Also, I think the problem with Crowton was they were trying to do too many different things. Miles' philosophy of running up the gut and throwing off of play-action is the way we need to go, and the only way we were really successful last year. But you have to have competent QB play for it to really work and we only got that in patches last year.

Alexander was a beast before his injury. The D wasn't the same after he went down in '07. It isn't like his starting spot wasn't completely undeserved.

I don't think it is unusual for the Head Coach to have the final say in who starts and who sits. That is why he gets the fattest paycheck.
He also gets the most heat for his decisions.

Miles was calling defensive plays, too?

IS THERE NO LIMIT TO THIS MAN'S RUTHLESS PURSUIT OF POWER!!!!!

Clearly the Rant knows that Mettenberger is better, just like they were sure Lee was better last year. There's no way Miles, who sees the QBs play every day, would know more than the Superfans we picked up after winning the NC in 2003. After all, they've seen high school footage of Mettenberger, so they're pretty much the authority.

I think that tells you we were watching miles' offense and maybe crowton kinda had his hands tied...guess we will find out in the fall if we see any significant changes to the offense.

Theta BS. Look at Crowton anywhere and his offense gets progressively bad. Krags will have some wrinkles. miles offense is pound the rock. Krags will bring pro style schemes off the run game and will try to simplify the offense. Crowton was an idiot and didn't mix well with miles run first mentality.

I'm not sure if this has been said yet, but how many practices have they had? Mett has no D1 experience. The season starts in 5 months ( ). Pretty much a) a lot can change between here and now, and b) of course Lee has the edge. Some people need to calmz down.

I'm torn between the excitement of having someone like Mett in, but knowing that JJ is going to get the initial nod, so if Mett does play, it means we have lost a game or two. I'm prepared to accept next year as Mett's coming out party.

If Lee were number three, what reason would there be for him to hang around?

In regards to a JC coming in and winning the starting job, it worked quite well at Auburn.

Hardly the same, bro. No offense to Mett, but Cam is a freak of nature, no matter what you think of him. And also, if I remember correctly, Auburn had nothing going on at QB. Say what you want about JJ and JL, but at least they've been in the system for 3 years.

you're right.

the short side option was a really good play last year.

as well as the pitch back to ridley for 2 yard loss play.

There is no way Mett could have surpassed the 1 and 2 from 2010 in such a short amount of time. But he will.
