That is not a boom. No one is saying Miami played a tougher schedule. We're saying Miami's talent, RIGHT NOW, is far and away greater. We can revisit this discussion in 2020 and see if LSU's talent surpassed them.

I look at that team and still think its better. No one on our current DL can dominate a game like Lavalais could. Lavalais, Dorsey, Spears, Kyle Williams. Hill. We don't have a better DL than that. Secondary? I think they all made the NFL. Landry, Webster, Jackson, et al. Then the WR's? 03 was definitely better. Henderson, Clayton v. Randle and Beckahm? No contest. I give the edge at RB to 11 team BUT keep in mind you had a healthy AB who DID set the rushing record the next year and a Joseph Addai so I say even. OL? Whitworth, Wilkerson, Peterman just plain better.

Word. That team was STACKED!!!

Just like this one. This team is deeper, and that is our strength that keeps paying dividends in the 2nd half.

It is a mute point because it's all about one persons opinion. Just being in the discussion is good enough. The credentials will be there since we have already tied a personal record by beating seven teams in the top twenty five.

I don't see it as a waste.

Definitely not a waste. Consistently shows dividends "on the back end" of the games. Bama was a beatten team due to our pounding, midway through the 4th Qtr and in OT.

how many successful (5+ yards) runs up the middle did we have in the 4th quarter?

Fine, but I don't think subsequent NFL talent is the way to judge how great a college team was. If that was the case, then 1995 Nebraska wouldn't be considered in the discussion.

How about if LSU runs the table and beats anyone we play in the BCS Championship, we can be considered the best team ever. We don't have to prove it by beating Bama twice. We already beat them. We already proved it. If it was the other way around they would be saying Bama was the best team ever right now.

i think NU had a bunch of NFL draftees from that team. just not frazier (and it's not like dorsey was an NFL QB either)

You mean the Miami team that needed a miracle vs VaTech(8-4) to remain undefeated or the USCum team that played a pitiful schedule and needed a near miracle vs Cal?

As always, you're FOS.

what? before bowls they had beaten 2, top-10 teams

that cal team was no joke. they lost one game (a very close one to USC) and had this dude named aaron rogers at QB

I'll give you 2001 Miami...I just don't think any team can beat them. It's the greatest collection of talent ever assembled and they completely destroyed almost everyone they played.

I honestly think though SFP that you are selling this team short. We've blown out everyone except Bama. We've beaten potentially up to 4 of the other teams in BCS games and again, only Bama was close. This team is the most dominant in years. I just don't think USC 2004 is this legendary team as advertised...they didn't even play the second best team that year, Auburn, who was also damn good. They had 5 games decided by less than 12 points. LSU 2011 has had 1 against probably the toughest schedule in BCS history.

Because we're not one of the name brands, the media will never hype it as such. But if we close this out there's no denying that this is one of the best college football teams ever.

The talking heads were saying the same thing about the 2003 Oklahoma team until Kansas State beat the hell out of them in the Big 12 Championship Game. LSU must avoid a similar fate by not taking this game lightly.

BUT we have not played any teams with a great offense and defense yet. the teams i'm bringing up have that

i'm not bringing up 2002 ohio state or anything. we'd frick them up

well i will say this. we have 2 games left to be impressive. if we blow out both opponents, we will move towards that hype. funny enough, much of this will be on JJ's ability to play well (which he has been)

Why are you so certain? You should have some reasons or teams in consideration.

If sports was just about assessing who has the best talent, kast year David Stern could have handed Miami the Larry O'Brien Trophy before the season started.
