To give all the fans some perspective following our recent loss to Nicholls State, I broke down every Loss that Skip Bertman had starting in 1987 to 2001, and CPM from 2007 until today.
Hopefully this will show you that mid-week games, in the long run, do not matter.
Mid-Week Loss Totals

15 in the last 3 full seasons is pretty damning

Were you firing Skip during his stretch of 17 during the same length of time?

He also won 2 national championships during those 3 years. FSU won 57 games, was a 1 seed and made the CWS in 1991 and TAMU won 44 and finished second in their conference for 2 of those losses. In 1993, they won 53 games. That team dealt with some mid season injuries that completely derailed them from what I recall. In 1994, they still went to the CWS and won a bunch of games.

Should have had someone else ready to step up for the injuries.

I’m a CPM fan and think he does a fine job. I’m just pointing out that not all mid week losses are the same as case in point with FSU and TAMU in 1991 and the end of year results matter.
So 2017, is an example where mid-week losses are meaningless. The loss of Eric Walker is what hurt that team.

I was making a joke about the idea that injuries can’t be used as an excuse.

While the loss was disappointing, I implore you not to overreact to early season midweek losses. Remember, baseball is a marathon, not a sprint, and this race has hardly begun. If it’s any consolation, the last times Nicholls beat LSU were in 2009 and 2015. LSU ended up in Omaha in both of those years.
