Love the Eye of the Tiger. Anyone remember anything else that was painted mid-field before the Eye? I remember a big LSU. Wouldn't mind a retro mid-field for a game.

Let 'em. I want to see if the Auburn Jinx is a transferable curse.

They might retreat to midfield when Chaisson and Divinity are drinking their Gatorade.

LSU players should just turn their backs on them when they do it.

I would almost bet my paycheck that they will or there will be some sort of altercation during pregame.

Don't want to set that precedent. The eye of the tiger is probably the best midfield logo in all of sports. It wasn't ever even an official logo (until after it became popular). it was just a great Idea someone saw painted and thought it'd look badass at midfield. It's incredible considering most teams just slap their primary logo down and call it a day.

Question for the old timers, when did the eye logo become standard? I've seen some old videos of games in the 80s with the eye but I've never nailed down exactly when it became permanent

As long as none of our guys do anything to get ejected before the game even starts.

If they do the fans should start an "LSU" chant instead of booing.

Rocky III came out in 1982 (Thanks, imdb). So, I'm guessing '82 or '83

I might be completely wrong but I believe Curley Hallman got rid of the eye and Nick Saban brought it back when he started coaching

when the gators do their little dance on the tiger eye, lsu players should just ignore them.

It became permanent in 2000. Dinardo had the LSU block letters in the middle of the field before that.

You may be correct

LINK

1996 Alabama at LSU has a gold text LSU at midfield. Side note: stadium looks bizarre as hell without an east upper.
