So I'm guessing your career with the Red Sox didn't last too long...

So what are you basing your opinion on that
quote:

Gibbs is not a good hitter? Are you going by his swing technique, average, slugging percentage, clutch hitting, i.e. RISP, leadership or some other statistic? Because when catman, Lawman and the others defend Gibbs or anybody else, you have to use a 'measuring stick' of some sort. Because the facts of many outweigh the opinion of one.

yeah tell that to pro scouts.

Nope, no pro athletic career...not that it matters since I'm making too much money elsewhere to be worried about what could have been.

Has nothing to do with opinions. You're objectively wrong.

I'm not concerned with what could have been you are the one bashing because I didn't make it to the majors. Just sayin what did you do athletically because I bet most guys would love to at least have the chance to play pro sports regardless of what you do now. What the frick were you doing when you were 21 that you would't trade for the chance to play pro sports???

I repeat, what do you base Micah Gibb's lack of hitting prowness to? You have yet to answer the question.

hes just not a cleanup hitter. he needs to be playing, but let him bat 7th or 8th. That would give us a left handed bat somewhere between helenihi, nola, and DJ.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict that Gibbs, who is a terrible hitter, gets drafted higher than you did. And to say that stats don't matter b/c his swing is bad is ridiculous. If a college basketball player has a pretty shot, but none of them go in the basket then what's the point. I'm pretty sure stats are what's important especially in baseball.

uuuuhhhh? Don't facts always outweigh opinions?

quote:

i assure you i've played baseball my whole life at a high level meaning D-1 (southern miss)and prolly forgtot more about baseball than you will ever know.

So just because you supposedly played D-1 (btw, which year and position) your trying to tell us that you knew everything that someone needs to know to play the game and evaluate talent? Then you must be a highly sought after pro scout by now right?

Just because you played baseball at a high level doesn't mean you "know" baseball. Ever here of Jose Canseco....I don't think anyone will ever accuse him of being a student of the game and "knowing" baseball.

Oh, and before I forget.....GFYS

And he "has to get back to work" as soon as someone calls him out on his stats.

I don't consider Helinihi a regular player seeing he sat the bench the whole year, but yeah besides helenihi he's the worst hitter in the line up.

yea, its not like he's been playing the WHOLE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES

Gibbs should not be hitting cleanup right now. Probably not for the whole CWS. He is not feared enough to make opponents actually pitch to Dean rather than throwing off the plate and not worrying about the walk. Micah may get a hit but they don't fear that he'll go yard or off the wall and clear the bases.

That's been the case for a long time but you don't mess with the lineup when you're on a long winning streak. The batter that pitchers fear the most right now is Jared, who seems to have found his swing against LHP and could always hammer RHP. He's been making solid contact against the Texas pitchers everyone else except DJ is having problems with. You can see the pitchers getting twitchy when he is at the plate.

Coincidentally Jared and DJ are our top draft choices and they are hitting Texas excellent pitching. Maybe those pro scouts knew what they were doing after all! Would not mind seeing Gibbs and Jared switch spots and getting Blake some better pitches. You also want to give Jared a chance to bring Helenihi home when he get on base. Jared's too far down the order.
