Also the caliber of player makes a big difference here. A former 5* that didn't play much asking for $1m versus a 3* that played the whole season are two very different things.

Sure I guess but the fact that not many have signed shows there is a big disconnect between what the schools are willing to pay and the what the players are asking. If the numbers were similar, you'd see guys popping.

Until somebody with enough pull can lay down some ground rules to this NIL and
transfer portal mess, it’s gonna just continue to get even more outlandish with the spending. You got some desperate mofos out there that is willing to see their team win a championship no matter what the cost is and willing to chance it blowing up in their face when the team flops.

Maybe it's just more level paying ground and it's harder to get players. That's what happens when you hire a mediocre coach.
