You think a new coach just rounds up new players, like he’s putting a pick up game together?
Um, yes. That’s what happens. When a new coach takes over he generally adds, 10, 11, 12, 13 new players to the roster. For example, A&M has a new HC this year. He doesn’t have a single returning scholarship player from last year’s roster.

You're an absolute dumbass. Do you realize 40% of all NCAA division I players entered the portal this past season with a significant rise every year since it's been implemented? How many Will Wade Players were on the team when McMahon was hired? Exactly.

Um no. They’re a program that is involved in “bringing” over players. This isn’t little league!

And what does it take to get players out of the portal, dipshit? Just a new coach. It’s comical… arguing with stupid Louisiana bumpkins is like beating up little kids - too easy!!!

What? So LSU doesn't spend any money to bring in players?
Keep digging that hole.
Keep digging that hole.

Not enough!!! I rest my case, Einstein. Btw, it isn’t just about money (little hint for you:)

Sooo…you think the HC doesn’t recruit his players? He just shows up and is forced to coach a roster the “program” recruited and signed?
The new HC is going to be the guy who puts together the roster. There isn’t a GM who is going to “draft” the players independent of the coach.

I think he’s a good guy. Just not sec caliber

Headline - Lane Kiffin brings in elite GM for football. From the same website - former player Ronald Dupree to serve as GM for men’s basketball. This is getting boring, and you have to be up early to unclog those toilets. Best of luck to you!

General on track to put back to back teams in the tourney in his first year. Heard from sources he will accept the lsu contract before the tournament.

Because our basketball staff is full of a bunch of “nice guys”
Not going to give too much info on the specifics of this because it would give away who I am IRL, but I dealt with one of his staff members on a few occasions and the guy was a complete fricking idiot. If he’s one of McMahon’s main guys then I completely understand why our program is where it is

So you think Dupree is going to stay on staff and select the roster independent of the coach?
The new coach is going to bring in his own staff, including a GM, if he chooses to have one. He and that staff will select and recruit the roster…which will be comprised almost an entirely new roster of players, if not an entirely new roster. This is the norm in college basketball now.
Again though, this entire conversation started with your ridiculous statement:

But when he leaves, you still have the same sorry players!!l
LSU won’t have the “same sorry players” next year because, if for no other reason, 5 of the top 8 minutes players are out of eligibility after this year.

LSU isnt a BB school so
So this is true and whoever started this rumor years ago needs to Make a correction.
When football was absolutely down and out in ‘89-‘94, basketball gave us hope and quality entertainment and we appreciated it.
Baseball benefited ,too. No one was around watching the 86-89 teams. Guillot and K woman were not in Omaha watching us play Maine or in College Station attempting to win a double header against the #1 teams in CBB…a regional at their house. Football was 1 but believe me, hoops was right behind it. Then, sanctions and the popularity of baseball somehow passed it by. I love baseball and have been a fan for a long time, but basketball was on a roll. And you can credit and discredit Dale for all of it. He couldn’t take great teams to the promised land and couldn’t help but win with pure mediocre kids, half of who hailed from Eastern Europe.
Basketball has been mismanaged and I don’t know how or why. But we are not NOT a basketball school. Why is Alabama and Auburn and dare I say Georgia playing great hoops? And then to see Ole Miss and State and Vandy have a place at the table? But mismanagement is the reason wbh

Enough talk this has to end NOW! He just can't coach he has proven that,4 years and the same results as year 1. Just cut him loose and deal with whatever you have to with. I mean come on an interm coach can lose games just like McMahon. Move on now and get started finding a real coach!

Men's Basketball and why haven't they progressed?

There’s simply not enough fricks to give for lsu basketball. Thats the hard truth. One day there may be a lucky turn around and people will hop on the bandwagon. But as it stands rn we are a lowly program and there are not enough people who give a frick to incite change.
