In 2018, he must do one of these at a minimum

A) Beat Bama AND also get at least 9 wins in regular season.
B) Win the SEC-West and make it to ATL.
C) Win 11 games or more total (inclusive of a strong Bowl win)

Anything less will be considered unacceptable.

The roster is stacked, even with the departures.

You are either in this to contend and build, or you are Ole Miss.

I believe Coach O knows this.

He is doing it his way for one full year. There are no viable excuses. Injuries included. That's part of the real life equation.

This is effectively going to be his 3rd year as HC.

I agree with all but "C". Should be 10 games...

At least "B". Presumably you fired Les Miles because you wanted the program to take the next step -- from good/really good to championship level, NOT simply to live up to watered down expectations because Ed Ogeron is your coach.

Fair or unfair, Ed doesn't get a pass. Don't give me the bullshite of "9 wins with this team was really good". Or "See, this isn't like O's Ole Miss tenure. He won 9 games". You fired your long time coach to become a championship caliber program. Anything less is unacceptable. If the status quo is what the goal/expectation should be, then LSU shouldn't be wasting millions by paying guys "not to coach". They should have just kept Les and been happy being a 8-10 win no championship winning team.

This was considered, but the 10 win standard is no longer valid for top programs who consider themselves a true contender. The best programs now play as many as 15 games in a season. 13 is effectively the minimum. 10 of 13 is .769 winning percentage. 9 of 13 = .692.

Sticking with my standards, but understand that some still assess the "10 game" standard as acceptable for top contenders. But in my assessment, especially coming off of a 9 win season. Nope. Not for me.

D (for Derek).. Spin a good enough lie after winning 8 games by beating some teams with winning records (just like Miles) such as players left and /or turn pro to buy 2 more years.
ITS A REBUILDING YEAR!!

There are two other ways. DO it, or its time to end the experiment. Get one of the other two accomplished, and it will be acceptable to proceed as is to 2019, where the same will apply.

This is the fans new standard.

Anyone not with this standard, is comfortable with competing vs contending, and should be stripped of their purple and gold apparel.

Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life. You and the retards on this board need to get it through your stupid heads that Miles did not get fired because of his record. He got fired because for 4 years he was asked to change the offense and didn't. And in fact it got worse.

Miles did irrefutable harm to the program by the way he ran the offense and how he handled QB's. That is why he was fired. This is why the program was trending south quickly. Ed O has a momental task to reverse that and to change the culture of the QB position and the reputation that we formed out there among HS QB's.

So to all you stupid people... this takes time. Whether O can do it or not is a huge question mark. Championships almost always revolve around the QB position. Yet somehow, you dummies think LSU should be able to do it without them. I mean read the recruiting threads "we don't need to sign a QB this year".

You people are just too dumb to argue with.

I agree there should be high expectations. However

If we win 9 or more games next year, you need to sign O to a lifetime contract.

All of the big boys return their QB's next year. Meanwhile, we will be breaking in a new one, and who the hell knows who our RB will be.

Just accept it. The schedule is rough and the personnel doesn't match up. It happens.

What you need to watch for is how we are coached. Our recruiting class. And if O can change the culture with the QB's and sign top ones ever year. It's as simple as that.

I do think Miami is a team we CAN beat. But that will rely solely on Brennan.

These threads are 100% pointless...... yes we get it! Ed has high expectations because we fired a coach that was more successful than others and at LSU you either win championship or you’re gone. The fact of the matter is that you have no clue what next year is gonna hold. None! This time last year we had a 5 star tackle on our team that would have been a great asset and he jumped ship a little before the season. My point is it’s Jan 14th! Take it easy. Put football on the back burned and enjoy some basketball. If you in the BR. Area there’s a gym meet at the PMac next Friday. Get out and go enjoy yourself. Take a deep breathe everyone. We are really good in most sports and should enjoy it!

I agree and I’m not saying we gonna run the table but I think next year we might surprise some people. Don’t forget it’s year 3 in the DA experiment and the D is gonna be good.
