They’ve been renamed to ULL. They’re located In Lafayette. The sidewalk fans there think it’s cute to point out that LSU is actually LSU A&M because it’s on the diploma. What’s funny is their diplomas state University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

As a LSU fan I find ULL’s obsession with it odd. I wouldn’t get all butthurt if ESPN decided to just start calling LSU LSU A&M or Louisiana State University Baton Rouge.
Honestly if they didn’t make such a big deal out of it I don’t think LSU fans would care as much as they do. It’s the ultimate big brother move. Find lil bro’s biggest insecurities and constantly pick on them about it.

ULM certainly has the right to be known as Louisiana as well and as I understand it they never agreed during the name changes from NLU to ULM and USL to ULL to result in ULL being named Louisiana. I guess its true that any school can call itself what it wants to but don't expect an official name change from ULL to Univ of Louisiana without resistance.

We go by Louisiana for Athletics. Just about every network and sports site is following suit. No big deal.

Yes, the little institute of the Forties in Lafayette has come a long way from when it was know then as SLI, Southwest Louisiana Institute.

Sure you would. You'd go nuts if your mighty tigers weren't called LSU. The world outside of the state recognizes us as Louisiana and UL, it is just the insure people like you who don't. We earned the name, we are the same Carnegie R1 academic standing as La State, the second largest school in the state and the clear leader of the UL System. Not that any of that matters to you as you are all about obsessing over our name and your superiority. Fortunately for us, it doesn't matter what you or your university chooses to call us. We've achieved the name recognition nationally.
