It's pretty obvious that he promised Berry an opportunity at a position in the field at the very least.
Yep. That seems like part of the deal for Berry's transfer here.

Probably did. But it ain’t working and Berry isn’t going anywhere if the promise is broken

Obregon is gonna have a big night

Would be nice to move Dugas up closer to the middle of the lineup so he can have more RBI opportunities.

Been saying that since game 1. Makes no sense at all to have him at the bottom of the order. None
Having Milazzo protect the SEC’s RBI leader from last year is insane tbh

But, if it gets out that the promise was broken after just a small amount of games, it could hurt recruiting in the future.

I absolutely believe this is the case. And I can respect him for keeping his promise. But at what point does he sit Berry down and say, “this just isn’t working”?

Not when Berry is a top 5 draft pick. With the universal DH now, being able to play a position isn’t going to affect his stock

Hopefully soon. They did it with Fontenot and being a starter.

I don't think that's relevant. I'm saying that if word gets out that Johnson didn't keep his promise, how would it go over when he gives future recruits/transfers promises.

I may be in the minority here, but I would still like to see how he does as a starter. We have several late inning options and it’s not like our starters (outside of Money) are setting the world on fire.

Lyn and Ben
Harden, Burckel, Obregon due up for McNeese in the top of the 1st against Hellmers

Didn't commit any errors in the pregame lead-in promo. Good start!

I do. Recruits will be more interested in where Berry was drafted than some promise to play a position. Getting drafted and getting paid is the ultimate goal for all of them.

Promising that players will play a certain position isn’t a promise coaches need to be making. If you do, you risk choosing between keeping a promise or hurting your team

That went over well. Gio is proven and makes the outfield instantly more athletic not to mention Gio on the bases. Jobert should get some spot starts maybe to keep in gaged but Gio is a bigger asset and either puts Berry at third or DH where he should be.

I'm pretty sure that Kelly said that they gave him a shot at it and then told him he's better as a reliever. He's been doing radio interviews every week.

Ben said our fielding was TOWARDS the bottom of the SEC. I just assumed we were in the basement. Are we not? Who’s worse?

If the players don't improve from now on the coach will have to take them out, if for nothing else so they can stop embarrassing themselves.
