You sound like you have unrealistic expectations for this team. Maybe you just want to see McMahon fail. Seems like a lot of LSU basketball “fans” do
You don’t know me at all, a-hole. I have nothing but desire for basketball to succeed under CoachMc.
I’ll talk with Ugly and some others, but you can go frick yourself.

He can’t defend his position so he makes a straw man and ad hominem attack on you. It’s telling that he immediately goes to these tactics instead of making his case.

You sound like you could use a coffee. I think sonic has those

Wait a sec… are we ALLOWED to be positive in matters regarding McMahon? I was under the impression that it was frowned upon.

Would love to see it, I dont have a ton of faith but I think we'll certainly be better than near last place as predictions have us. Ultimately its about getting into the tournament and in year 3 thats gotta be the expectation.

You can turn around a basketball roster in one year with the right recruiting. Apples and oranges.

Tell me, was the team better last season, than in season 1? Do you think it will be better this season than last?
Also, who were the posters saying LSU was a tournament team last season?
Most were saying a .500 SEC season was attainable and the expectation.

There are only a handful of avid LSU BB fans on here. You and I are not numbered in that group. The guy you are talking crap to is.
Not being enamored with a coach who has yet to prove anything is not the same as hoping the team fails. Drizz will be right here in the game thread for every game.
All of you newbs need to take a deep breath sometimes.

Hey Driz, don't let Jim get under your skin too much. He means well but he doesn't pay attention to who he is speaking with.
As for as basketball, well..

What I wanted to see was development and improvement both individually and as a team. While understanding the realities, in year one I didn't really see any of that.
Before SEC play last year, I didn't see much of it last year either. I began to see some of both when SEC play started last year and it gave me some hope. We ended kind of meh, which was a bit disappointing to me, but I'll choose to begin this year with the hope we see more of the development and improvement I saw for a stretch of SEC play last year.
Hope we have a couple of kids who can inject some toughness into our roster. IMHO it's the number one deficiency we've had the past two years. I can understand the talent not being quite what is needed to a point.... but we just have to get tougher.

You’re kind of outlining the issues with McMahon. Bad D, poor rebounding, turnovers on offense, bad possessions in crucial situations, bad decision making overall. Fans keep pointing to talent deficiencies but until those things are fixed the talent doesn’t matter all that much. Maybe he gets it corrected, he’s young there’s no reason he can’t but so far it’s gone uncorrected through 2 seasons.

I think all of 3 our major programs have built solid foundations for programs that will actually last instead of the win then drop off model we are accustomed to.
Not a lot of people want to hear it, but it does take a little bit of time to build something like that when 2 of the 3 sports were severely lacking any talent.

Always set the bar as low as possible, then almost anything is an improvement.
2-16 to 9-9 is a huge improvement. The program had to be rebuilt from scratch after Wade.

That was with KJ too.
You're acting like we had prime Giannis
You talk about expectations but it seems like you expected immediate success for Mac taking over a program with ZERO committed players with a toxic cloud hanging over it.

So what is the record of each coach during their 3 years here?
Kelly won the division in year1. He has us ranked at 14 with a chance to return to top 10 this season. He has a top 5 recruiting class coming in. The success of each coach for their first 3 years is dramatically different.
Your comment reeks of sour grapes.

He's been here 2 years
And no one (before the win over Arkansas) thought we'd be good in Year 1 after the mess that was left behind and the NCAA cloud.
Last year, yes, people were being unrealistic pre-season, but that team was a much better product on the floor.
He has recruited well and the roster this year seems strong enough to make the tourney. We'll see.
Why does our fanbase suck so hard?

I think just about everyone has said year 3 for Kelly is when we better see a much improved squad. Floundered in the opener a bit, but the team seems to be improving and we have most of the season left.

He’s in love with Orgeron so he hates Kelly. It’s as simple as that.
