McDonald, you’re not here to go to school, you’re here to pitch.

You probably have to click on the channel SECN. The delays have messed everything up.

Search by channel instead of live event.

On Sling, it’s listed as the Tennessee/Vandy game

That was hilarious. Hearing the former players impersonating Skip is always great!

If this home plate umpire called it a strike, I might just have to agree with him.

Did you try clicking that link to verify if it really was the Tenn/Vandy game or the one that is playing now

It was the A&M/UF game.

It’s probably listed as SEC Now or the LSU/UK game.

“Less than 1 % of college players are going to play in the big leagues… and his name is Ben McDonald. He’s sitting right there. The rest of you have to go to class.” - Skip Bertman, LSU

One of my favorites, to a pitcher he was pulling : "it's not your fault. It's mine for recruiting you". Former players have always said that his best quotes were X rated, behind the scenes. And Skip was VERY X-rated in a lot of his comments.

That is in the SI doc, "Hold the Rope". The guy telling the story, (and doing a great Bertman impression) went on to pitch in the majors.

I think I miss Skip already. I hope he lives to be 100. I would have given my left nut just to be a batboy around skip for four years.

I was around Skip a bunch in the early years. I worked at the Box in the mid 80’s for the American legion. I also helped him publish his book after college. He is a nice guy but very gruft, curmudgeony. Love you Skip.
