This team is just 3 or 4 players away from being competitive.

Watching the game you could see the slide coming at about five minutes left in the first half. It continued to the end which I did not watch.

Is it due to lack of bench players?

Honestly it’s lack of bench coaching. The players have heart but they are poorly coached. Why in the world would you let Hayes dribble around the last 2 minutes and jack up terrible shots?

I'm not going to pretend that this is a good team but KJ, Reed, Ward, Miller, Fountain, Hayes, Hannibal should be a group that is better than 2-15 in conference play...

Hannibal, hayes, and and fountain were all backups at their last schools for a reason. Reed and Ward are freshmen.
KJ and miller are 2 good pieces. Better coaching probably couldve netted them a couple more wins, but not much more. This is like alot of bad teams in the sec each year, one stud, one kinda good player, and then a bunch of backups.

I don't see growth anywhere across the board.

Then you are refusing to acknowledge it when it shows up with Reed, Ward, and Phillips

LSU had an 18 point lead and choked it away.
eh, soightly. Mizzous style of play leads to losing big leads and creating big comebacks. Lsu’s first half 3 point perfentage was due for regression.

We can agree on the portal being key to any chance at success next year

Tonight was the most disgusting display of organized basketball I have ever seen in the college level game.

Then it must be one of the few lsu games youve watched this season, because we have played far worse multiple times

Here are your guards:
Cam Hayes
Adam Miller
Juice Hill
Trae Hannibal
Juice Williams

What is your lineup / what plays are you drawing up coach?

This team is actually 3 players away. We do not have an SEC caliber PG. That is the biggest issue. We have an inconsistent starting 2 guard although he has played better lately but that is not saying much and we don't have a rim protector although Phillips could end up being that with more PT. Ward and Reed still have a ways to go but have shown improvement but as far as starting 5, KJ is the only SEC caliber player we have. Coaching will not overcome that. If we were more consistent shooting and wouldn't turn the ball over so much we win 5-6 more games. Anyone who says the team hasn't been competitive is just lying. They just aren't good enough to close a game out. They were competitive with Texas Tech, Alabama, Miss St, Tx AM, Mizzou, Ole Miss and South Carolina and beat a red hot Vandy.

Miller may be the only servicable one in that bunch. Maybe Hayes off the bench. But, if that is your lineup of G's then your not winning many games unless your F's and C are superstars.
