Atrocious offensive basketball tonight and team just doesn’t seem motivated to compete, slow starts have been prevalent since CMM has been HC, don’t understand how bad teams always seem to find their shots and play so well against LSU. Something has to change either HC or lineup changes, Reese is not an SEC caliber PG or guard, he brings nothing to offense
The offense wasn’t good, but the defense was far, far worse. I think because of the nature of the game people reflexively lot primarily to the offense to judge a team, good or bad. But in reality, on the whole, McMahon’s teams have been worse defensively than offensively (though the offense has also been bad)
MSU came into the game as the worst shooting team in the SEC. Both overall and from 3. Tonight they shot 51% overall and 48% from 3…in addition to their usual dominance of LSU on the boards. Sometimes you just run into a team that has an unusually hot shooting night. But when it happens over and over again it’s not an accident.

I was one the few defenders of McMahon left but after that disaster I favor firing him. whether immediately or after the season I am not sure, I dunno what difference it makes.
but that was a bad performance vs a bad team. PMAC is dead. time for a change.
the NET ranking was still decent and there were winnable games ahead, but not playing like that. that wasn't good enough.

Exactly.
On the offensive side, we missed some wide open shots. That’s gonna happen and will usually balance out.
But they consistently beat us on the pick and roll and even on back doors. Open threes.
By the way, down 25 and we played ten seconds of press on the inbounds. They immediately dunked. Never really went back to it.
I turned to my buddy (season tix holder) and asked him — have we had an effective press ever this year? Or even under CMM at all?
We are missing tools in the defensive bucket that get exposed every time we play good teams.
I used to think it was a bug. It’s not. It’s a feature.

I really just want to hear some fight out of the crowd. That’s all I want from this game. I want to hear some major boos rain down as the clock strikes 0.
That is the sad part, there is not enough people there to make a solid boo

It was awful. State had tiny guards and at time had 3 small guards on the court at once - and we'd have Tomba or Sutton or MacKinnon on one of them and they would drive by them like they were standing still, no ball screens needed and once you get those straight line drives over and over your defense is toast.
As final 12 or so minutes of the game showed, trapping those undersized guards would have been very effective in disrupting that flow and causing turnovers. Only problem was we were 25 down before we started trying that.
