Maybe I am inept, but why can’t we just drop the zone coverage?

Why can we not just play man? Every play we look LOST in the secondary. If the players can’t pick up the concept, let the corners play man. If you get beat physically, you get beat physically. Harris was one of the higher ranked corners in his class, Welch was too. Ryan was a 5 star. Let them use their physical gifts and let’s stop with the paralysis by analysis.

Still rearranging deck chairs?

They have played man and have been beat physically-next question

Need the horses to do that, Mickey Andrews

No, trying something different. Like maybe slowing down might have avoided hitting the iceberg.

We will have issues no matter which coverage we run.
It’s clear we can’t play zone. But we have only 1 maybe 2 CBS that can really play man (and not even okey it very well)
It’s a bad problem. And it’s made worse by inept front 7 play.

We are playing lots of zone. Not getting a rush. Getting picked apart. And then don’t tackle

Whatever they do it needs to involve never just rushing 3 and finding a way to get pressure when the other team is behind the sticks.

We don’t have the personnel to play man. We strategize to prevent the big play and make the other team drive the full length of the field. However, our tackling is so terrible that we can’t make the tackles to stop the big play.

The only thing we do very well I guess is stop the run on 1st and 2nd down.

Last night a better game plan would have been max blitz of 6 players every single play
Because either a sack/turnover happens or at least they score quick keeping their defense tired.
It sounds stupid but it’s actually true
To eh wouldn’t have gotten anymore than 700 yards

Lane would picked apart any coverage.
He's a good offensive coach

Honestly it has to be our only choice, or at least go zone and man to man 50/50 and not just play the same Defense every down. The offense knows exactly what LSU is going to lining up and in d backfield every single down. How easy can that be for a QB. Maybe that is why LSU makes almost every QB we play look like the Heisman winner.
LSU has to combine the man to man with a ferocious rush so the DBs don't have to guard their receiver all over the field like we don't do now.
Bottom line is that LSU has to do something different. Are we afraid we will give up more than 711 yds of offense if we change?

This is what I’ve been saying. We can’t cover with zone. We can’t cover with man and 2 deep safeties. We can’t cover with zone blitzes. Play cover 0, man up every receiver and blitz 6, 7, or 8 every down. What the hell have you got to lose?
Posted on 10/1/23 at 5:44 pm to talmaniandevil_25
I'm not sure that would work either because our players aren't put in the correct alignment, take poor angles to tackle and have poor tackling technique.

If you pay attention and know coverages they are trying everything. One of Ole Miss’ touchdowns they are playing cover 2 man and someone just doesn’t pick up their man at all. They can’t do anything right. Doesn’t matter the coverage.

They can't cover zone. How u think they can cover man to man right now
Posted on 10/1/23 at 6:18 pm to talmaniandevil_25
Our zone coverage looks like a first year pop Warner team trying to learn where to stand

Maybe disguise a coverage ever and now to try an confuse the other team.
