That's a great point. However, most people who are questioning Joe are curious about the non-response, not the decision to skip.

The no response is the response. LOL This isn't rocket science.

Is it always in March? Why?

According to Mark Wolpert, executive director of the Maxwell Football Club, presenting the award is based on the NFL calendar when professional players would be available and this week happens to fall after the Combine and shortly before players start negotiations in free agency as the league year commences.

It’s the Maxwell Award - not the Krotz Springs Player of the Year presented by Billy’s Boudin Balls.

One question Maxwell Club : Are any of your other 14 winners currently preparing for the NFL Draft ?

Thought not.

These ceremonies are for alum, not active players. Go to any event where they have a bunch of Heisman winners, not one is a current player. I've met Johnny Rogers, Tony Dorsett and Billy Sims 10 times but not ever a single active player.

It's hilarious you are saying you don't know how people get through life when you are espousing this as the proper, adult way of doing things.

And that you think this makes any logical sense at all:

Joe won't return my calls either. LOL

lol no kidding! So these guys setup an award, a gala, the whole nine yards and never bothered to see if Joe even wanted to go? Is that how it works? dude, it's not some random awards show that was just recently created. It's been around since the 30's and he would be the first player to not attend it 83 years. The Maxwell is kind of a big deal

The guy won literally every possible award he could have won. A clean sweep. To the best of my knowledge, that has never happened before, especially not in this era were there are a billion possible awards to win.

At what point does a person get to say "I'm tired of traveling across the country just to take picture with a bunch of people with crap eating grins on their faces"? And how many times can you give a speech without repeating yourself and sounding insincere? Just leave the dude alone.

Something as mind boggling stupid as this. If someone can't figure out what it means when someone doesn't call you back, not sure how to express any other way than to say that person is dumb as a brick.

What doesn't make logical sense is why those people haven't figure it out. Than they do an interview discussing their rejection.

I mean, when I get rejected I don't go around telling everyone.

joe is now prepping for NFL. waaaaaaaaay too late for any of these clowns to try to dictate what joe does. what a joke. the nerve.

so do you just ignore all phone calls and messages when it's a commitment you don't feel like attending? Must be nice to go through life with the mentality of a 12 year old

The whole thing is a bad look.

Seems like there's been a few bad looks for him since the season ended.

If I want to bail, sure, the non-commitment is the response. They just don't like the response.

Do you think this is going to keep me up at night or something? It's a message board meant for having discussions, I shouldn't have to explain this.

Would rather go to that than the Maxwell Awards. I can guarantee the food would be better.
