Not sure why everyone is freaking out. Max was never good this year. Myles was clearly going to be the starter before he got hurt. Max was never going to be the guy to lead us to a championship. Wish him the best but we can do better.

I don’t think everyone is freaking out. We are all aware he wasn’t going to be the future of the program. I think we were taking back by the timing.

I just hate when players leave LSU. He seemed like a good kid from a good family. I wish him and his brother well.

I think he would have been a starter moving forward.

While I agree Max wasn’t the future of the program, it is incorrect to say he wasn’t a good SEC QB. Max threw 27 TDs this season. 4th in LSU history behind only Burrow (60), Jamarcus (28) and Mauck (28) and if he played in the bowl game and threw 2 more he’d sit alone in 2nd place at LSU all-time. That’s very impressive and ranked 15th amongst QBs this season. Certainly “SEC quarterback” worthy. This season Max was 38th in passing yards in the country. All around, statistically one of the best seasons in LSU history.

People are freaking out because -

#1 HE’S THE STARTING QB… potentially for 2 more years

#2 it ain’t like we have 9 other QB’s on the roster

#3 our roster has been bleeding out since Jan 2020

Now compare how many passes he attempted to years past. Of course his stats will be higher. This year we basically ran 5 wide air raid offense. Vs the past when we were lucky to attempt 1/4 of passes max did in a game. Also his stats were padded most of yards came from 5 td slants that boutte took to the house.

Mauck: Comp: 229 Att: 358 YDS: 2825 TD: 28 INT: 14

Russell: Comp: 232 ATT: 343. YDS: 3129 TD:28 INT:8

Johnson: Comp: 225 ATT: 373 YDS: 2,815. TD: 27 INT: 6

Comparable numbers with fewer completions than both, fewer interceptions than both and only 14 more attempts than Mauck and 30 more than Jamarcus. Numbers don’t lie. Max statistically had one of the best seasons by an LSU QB.

I wonder why he isn't getting the level of hate TJ got when he transfered.
