I get a lot of people are disappointed in his play and his arm overall. But he really isn’t doing a bad job considering.

He has 0 run game so the entire game is on him.
The O line is abysmal and he is getting pressured just about every time he drops back. He is even having to deal with getting pressure from 3 or less and everyone else dropping back in coverage so he has no space.

Take all that and add in that the coaches aren’t getting the play in in time. He is processing a lot in under 10 seconds. He still has to make the calls and point out protection once the play gets in.

There is room for improvement but it’s going to come.

I’m blaming the loses on coaches.

Max is a decent QB… still has a LOT of work and improving to do in order to become a good/winning/consistent QB.

We have lots of issues on offense, and unfortunately until Max makes that improvement he is one of the many issues.

I do totally agree that our coaching and play-calling on offense is not good. It’s one, if not the biggest, of our many issues on offense.

If I had to rank our offensive woes in order of biggest issues, it would be:
1. Oline
2. OC/play-calling/scheme
3. Running game
4. QB
-In other words, while Max is certainly one of our issues, he’s way down the list of our biggest issues

Hot Take:

The way Max is playing (pretty solid considering his fricking atrocious school worse OL), he would be a potential All-SEC, All-American candidate with his numbers.

Too bad the OL and the development of OL has sucked dick.

He played better on Saturday than he did early in the year. It wasn't incredible, but should have been enough to win. OL/inability to run at all were the biggest reasons we lost

100% agree. Every player on the field could be better and we should critique them. Max, however, is not one who should draw the eye of those critics. He has played more than admirably considering the shitty situation he is in at the moment.

Imagine trying to call a play, read the defense, make an audible if necessary, and clap your hands twice in under 15 seconds on every play in your first full season as QB in the SEC West. That is not a good situation for any QB.

Yup Max has been steadily improving each game. However, the coaching staff continues to regress. AU goes 3 down lineman and an extra DB, but we cant get shite going on the run game. I dont see how one can make the argument the team is better with Nuss or Brennan right now. All qb's would be screwed with this blocking scheme and run game. Its common sense. Also We havent really mentioned Max's toughness. Kid gets hit every other play and gets back up with no drama

It ain't all about stats & it ain't all about coaching.
Max played terrible in the 4th quarter, when it mattered the most.

He's FAR from the biggest issue on the team. But there are some throws he's making that are just plain bad. When he can set his feet and deliver a pass over the middle he is great. But there are other times when he's throwing off his backfoot; jumping while throwing, or just making awful throws while on the move. The deep ball just floats like a balloon.

Again, he's not the biggest issue as it doesn't help him when the team has no running game whatsoever or that the coaches can't get the play set in time. But, right now, he's an average SEC QB who is having to deal with much, much more of the workload because his OL is bad and the OC is struggling.

He's never going to be a dynamic playmaker. And that's ok in college if the other parts around him are sound.

There were times Saturday when he literally got the play with 10-11 seconds left on the play clock. There is no way a QB can be confident or comfortable when he's given a play late and then has to process the defensive alignment and make checks with his line and WRs. It's unforgiveable that this far into the season Peetz still can't figure out what play to run.

There is no reason on planet earth that he is completely unaware of the play clock. That is 150% on him. He takes his time to getting to the line, more time changing the play, then waits a few seconds and does fakes before the real snap.

If by some idiocy the coaches told him not to look at the play clock, then ok, but I would doubt that.

And yet Max didn't have a problem with this last season. What's changed? It's not hard to figure out where the problem lies.

You idiot. When Max is out there yelling at the sideline to give him a play I don’t think he is the issue. He isn’t changing the play. Peetz is and it’s giving him no time to do anything. You must be in Coach Os inner circle the way you’ve been defending him and the coaches on here. This is not on Max.

Max is not the problem. He’s the best qb LSU has had in the last 10-12 years not named joe burrow
