There is a reason LSU brought in a transfer qb to replace brennan with burrow.

Why is the board so sad if brennan is replaced with max?

this is sec football

Who's sad about it?

It's a great problem to have.

I wouldn't read a lot into the first 5 practices but Myles is seemingly at 100%, Max is also practicing with the ones.

I'm not understand why it's such a huge issue. I'd be surprised if Myles doesn't start in the first game. If nothing else, he's been in a varying system for years. That could be good, could be not so good but he put up some very good numbers before he got injured last season.

Let's just support whoever is the starter.

They're all on the same team.

I couldn’t cate lesss as long as the best guy gets the job. But Max Johnson hasn’t shown nearly enough to get the starting job. Poor arm strength. Poor accuracy. Hot take—those things are pretty important for a QB, seems like this board just refuses to acknowledge that.

Max has the higher ceiling. Max’s arm strength/accuracy improving is a higher probability than Brennan’s athleticism improving

Barring injury, Brennan is your starter. The competition between him and Max is not really close. Do not be misled by the media. Ask the players who is the better quarterback.

Brennan was a Freshman when Burrow came in. A skinny one at that. I don’t have any reservations about Johnson but I think he has to beat out Brennan to get the job. That might not happen.

Comparable to Burrow.

Brennan was only accurate when he had all day to throw.

Seems like you’re refusing to acknowledge Brennan’s crippling lack of running ability.

Bottom line (just my 2 cents) Max struggles with downfield accuracy, Myles struggles with his athleticism. One can be taught, the other can’t.

The way I look at it is which QB makes Saban worry? We all know QB’s that can move have a better chance against Bama. Myles has a good arm but no mobility. Johnson is the choice.

Agree Max is the future, but Brennan should get the start this year, and could very well stay an additional year. Hope Max doesn’t get impatient. Finley will probably transfer at some point. Nussmeier is a four star recruit that should be next in line. Howard has committed for ‘22 so the future looks pretty bright. I cannot remember a better QB lineup at LSU ..... ever.

Johnson still managed to complete 58.8% of his passes in his true freshman year last year with LSU's #1 WR and TE opting out before he had his starts. Joe Burrow completed 57.8% in his 1st year at LSU (which was his 4th in college). Brennan completed 60.3% of his passes last year. So as far as completion % goes, there was only a very small difference. Johnson also had 8 TDs and 1 int (and 2 additional rushing TDs), went 2-0 as a starter and had LSU's only TDs against Auburn and aTm.

All the QBs did some very good things last year and it should be a battle. If Brennan is 100% and wins the job, it would give the other guys more time to develop. But to act like Johnson can't be a starter if he wins the job is foolish. He has already proven he can do it. If anything, it gives us legit backup QBs to put in if the offense isn't flowing after a few drives.
