Mawae and Faneca - LET THEM IN!

Both of these guys should be in the Hall of Fame. Faneca was a six time FIRST team All-Pro and was also second team two more times. That means he was considered the best at his position in the entire NFL for six separate seasons and second at his position in the entire NFL two more seasons. He was also a FIRST-team member of the 2000s all-decade team.
Mawae's resume is equally as impressive, or maybe even more so, with SEVEN first team All-Pro selections and an additional second team selection. He was also a FIRST-team member of the 2000s all-decade team. He also served for four years as NFLPA President.
Yet, Faneca has now been a finalist three times and Mawae four times. If these two can't get in the Hall of Fame, they should call it the Hall of Fame for everybody but offensive linemen. These were considered two of the five best offensive linemen from the entire 2000s. Period.
There have been no modern-era offensive linemen added to the Hall of Fame since 2016. When you look at Orlando Pace, Walter Jones and Jonathan Ogden, the three most recent O-line entries, both Faneca and Mawae's resumes are equally as, if not, more impressive than every single one of those guys.
I hope they put them both in together. It would be fitting to have the two greatest offensive linemen in LSU history go into the NFL Hall of Fame in the same class. And, they both absolutely deserve and need to be there.

Ed Reed is a lock this year
Tony Gonzales is a lock this year
Champ Bailey I would say is close
With a five man class, hopefully either one will make it, both are deserving and should eventually get in.
Johnny Robinson will likely get in as well.

Faneca weights 165 lbs now

Both guys were extremely dominant and were as durable as they come as OL. So much importance to be healthy year in and year out and Faneca started every game 11 seasons in a row. (Including the year he retired) Mawae did it for 10.
They should both get in but I'd bet Faneca gets in first having played in NY and for a SB winning Steelers team.

Both belong in the HoF. Would be a travesty if not.

I agree. Gonzalez, Ed Reed and Champ are first ballot locks. The rules are that between 4-8 people can make the HOF.
There are three senior/contributor finalists, and Johnny Robinson is the only player in that group. I'd say he's a lock. The other spot will probably go to owner Pat Bowlen.
This leaves 2 or 3 spots left for modern finalists. Faneca or Mawae has to be one of them, and then the other will get in next year as the only 1st balloters coming then are Troy Palamalou and Reggie Wayne. I'm not sure either is a 1st ballot lock so the guys that don't get in this year (and there are some really good ones like John Lynch, Ty Law, Edgerin James, Tony Boselli, Steve Hutchinson, Isaac Bruce and Steve Atwater) should get in in the 2020 class.
They better get in this year or next because in 2021 there will be three locks: Peyton, Charles Woodson and Calvin Johnson.
I keep reading that after the 3 locks the next two will be Isaac Bruce and Steve Hutchinson. They just put in Moss and TO last year so it seems to me they could put some linemen in and revisit Bruce next year because there are FOUR deserving linemen. I think it will be Edgerin James and (hopefully) Faneca.

Two of the best linemen ever to come out of LSU along with Whitworth (which should easily make it also).

Both are badass men who represent the Tigers so well! Met Mawae a few years back at a game and he was the best.

The “as” is redundant.

Exaggeration, but hats off to Faneca for getting his health under control. Most former offensive linemen ruin their lives through the gluttony they were coached to adopt.

I'll be pissed if they vote Boselli in vs Faneca or Mawae.

They’ll both eventually get in. They both aren’t getting in this year.
With the class cap and the big name locks that have to get in as soon as they are eligible, it’s just a matter of waiting your turn. OL get the shite end of the stick.

It’s hard to believe those two pictures are of the same fella

To be fair, that 2nd pic is toward the end of a marathon. I’m sure he looks much healthier day to day. Good for Alan.

I would like to see Faneca and Mawae in too... but neither belongs in the conversation with those 3

Faneca running in Marathorns after his lengthy NFL career is bananas.
