Other wrs from those teams got drafted and had NFL careers.

If you are good, you are good.

Happens ever year, he has nothing to lose. Hope he comes but wouldn't be shocked if he goes pro

Well, given the quickly decreasing slot value, I would say it looks good that he signs. He would have to get taken right away in round 3 to have an 800k slot. Then if he turned down 1.8, teams would have to dish out a ton extra to get him. Not all teams have a boatload to spend like that just on one guy, and according to that article he turned down the offer from a team with the most extra to spend.

Don't care what anybody points to. That was a very MEANINGFUL stretch. We may not have a national title without him

This is the truth! Plus the reason Chad Jones could not be more of a factor in baseball had little to do with him playing football. It was because his arm was prone to injury. It was chronic. He needed Tommy John. Now, perhaps one could argue that he would have had TJ if he was a one sport guy.

He would have started in the OF if he had fully committed to baseball. That’s my point. Football made him a non factor

He was WR5 or 6. It wasn’t really the QB. He was down on the depth chart and like Jones in baseball would have played more if he didn’t split sports

What does that have to do with anything? Our #2 WR that year was averaging less than 40 yards per game. We didn't have the QB play to let the WRs shine. Besides, he is the only person in that WR crop still playing pro sports, so he obviously has talent.

Lester is right, it’s tough to excel in two sports at an SEC school unless you’re a Bo Jackson level freak. I’m thinking he’ll be more of a baseball stud, considering his path to early playing time should be quicker there

This is not really important to the conversation currently, but it looks like Hampton will be the youngest player on the baseball team.

He’ll start for the baseball team next year.

I don’t see him playing a major role in football right away. He’s not gonna beat out Stingley for CB2 or Vincent in the nickel.

He could play a lot as a sophomore though.

Hope so even though he deleted the tweet.

I remember the "cash-strapped Dodgers" were not likely to sign Zach Lee. They somehow came up with $5.25M at the 11th hour. I see he's gone from the Dodgers to the Padres and now in the Mets organization.

That's not how the draft works anymore

I think by SEC he will.

Day 1, prob not. Football will bleed too much into the baseball, esp with the new RS rule, he’ll be seeing time even if he Redshirts. Immediate special teams guy tho. Would be surprised if he redshirts

Makes no sense for him to redshirt given that he’s gone in 3 years regardless

Chris Jackson didn't have any problems juggling football and baseball.
