All the talent in the world means nothing without a brain.
so why did Flynn throw way more INTs despite the fact that he threw less and had a way better running game?
JR didn't throw an INT in either 8 or 9 games in 2006

same goes for matt mauck... he was not a GREAT qb... he made good decisions and didnt hurt the team...
he threw 4 touchdowns and turned the ball over 10 times against ranked teams in 2003. we won inspite of him. he played terrible in basically every big game we had.
Neither Flynn or Mauck had to play 4 top 10 teams on the road, and neither had a team as good as Florida in the SEC that season

gotta have a lil luck to win championships... but u also have to put yourself in a position to win championships with that luck... JR never did this...
This is so painfully stupid. THEY BOTH HAD THE SAME CONFERENCE RECORD. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER ONE LOSS TEAMS IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. Please, I would love someone to give a valid explanation of what Flynn did to put his team in a position to win a championship that Jamarcus didn't. The best part about this ridiculously inane argument is that Flynn didn't even play in the SECCG.

I'd take either one right about now.

without a doubt, they were both great for LSU

So those 4 losses of JR's are all completely his fault? He was hurt against Georgia, defense collapsed against Tennessee, and we didn't figure out how to run the football until the second half of the season in '06. Sure, JR made a few mistakes. He more than made up for them by destroying lesser competition and bringing us back against multiple top 10 teams on the road.

Didn't we just go through all this 2 days ago? Why re-visit this empty-calorie thread so soon when we can start a new (and more meaningful) one?
Because the boy doesn't have a girlfriend and has nothing better to do. Just another example of the sickness known as "Professional Internet Message Board Geek Addictive Syndrome.".......

I like how people think JR is stupid, but he clearly understood the game better while at LSU than Flynn, and the two essentially got the same score on the Wonderlic test before the draft.
But yeah, JR isn't white so...

No way we win a NC with JR at QB. Imagine JR trying to learn Crowton's scheme in less than a year.
Are you insinuating that JR is dumb intellectually?
What is the reason you think that? Cause he's black?
That's the ONLY reason I can think of because EVERY other actual FACT proves that JR is actually not stupid at all.
So, I wonder what made you make that comment.

No, because the 1st 3 didnt win championships.
So, if Flynn is better because he won a championship, then basically EVERY player on the 2007 team was better than every player at the same position on the 2006 team, right?

That's not an individual stat, that's a team stat.
How do you not see that is beyond me.

He won the BIG GAME......

Russell lost us championships by his stupid arse decisions... Flynn won us a championship by making good decisions... he wasnt as talented as JR but he got the job done... kinda curious if we woulda won more NCs if he played all 4 yrs
You guys are fricking ridiculous.
Was Flynn making good decisions against Arky and Kentucky?
Do you not freaking realize that BOTH teams went 10-2 and lost 2 SEC games? So how is Flynn better?
If WVU beats Pitt like they're supposed to in 2007, does that somehow magically factor in and not make Flynn better since he wouldnt have won a title?
The arguments for Flynn are just ridiculous.

Oh my fricking God, LOL.
I REALLY hope this post was sarcasm for the sake of your football knowledge.
Mauck made TERRIBLE decisions and played like dog shite in almost every big game we played.
LOLZ at Mauck making good decisions and not hurting teh team.
Some of LSU fans are delusional, I swear.

EXACTLY!!!
People keep proclaiming how stupid Russell was when ANY knowledgeable football fan would know that Russell was smarter on the field, and Russell was also an honor roll student, IIRC, and like you said, had the same wonderlic score as Flynn. So what makes Flynn so much smarter???? hmm...

And everything is about race when someone thinks a white player is better than a black player. I'm really sick of the reverse racism shite.

When the black player is clearly better in every statistical category, had the same record against a tougher schedule, was choosen ABOVE the white player numerous times by two national championship winning coaches, and proved to have more football smarts on the field and identical football smarts on the Wonderlic, yeah, it's about fricking race.

And you are a dumbass. Its all opinion based. The people that scream racist everytime this situation comes up are likely the biggest racists of all. And you sir are likely the head of the pack.

I'm not saying they're ALL racist, but I am saying that they would prefer to see a white guy do better than the black guy. That's not racism necessarily, rather preference.
If you think it's opinion based, then everyone is just fricking retarded. Like I said, there is nothing you can bring up that points to Flynn being the better player.
Better record? No
Better stats? No
Coach Saban thought he was better? No
Coach Miles thought he was better? No
Lady luck liked him more? Yes
Please, if you think Flynn was better, give me some decent reasons why. If you say it was because he won a national title, when anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see was purely due to luck, you should just shut the frick up and leave the thread. Please, don't use that angle.

So you are saying that stats alone make a better player? You realize this has been done umpteen million times on this board and you will never unite the two sides right? I prefer Flynn. I think he has a better head for the game. He has less physical talent but was able to do the same things. JR was a good QB, no doubt. I just don't think that stats alone can decide it. And you claim you arent calling people racist, yet you say the only thing they could be going on is race. Does that not make you a racist if you base your decisions on race???? I'll say straight up that RP (he is a black guy if I'm not mistaken) was probably the best QB ever at LSU. Was a dumbass, but he would have surpassed all of JR's AND Flynn's stats if he had stuck around. But I still prefer Flynn over JR, and if I had the choice now in the pros, would make the same choice. So call me and everyone else that prefers Flynn a racist, it doesn't really matter. But people that live in glass houses should definitely refrain from throwing stones.
