The guy was back on campus the week after his expulsion from the team and at the game. He wanted to be there for his boys. He wanted to come back and make it right. I don’t care how it ended for him at LSU, he is forever a Tiger legend and a great ambassador.

Mathieu being kicked off the team is probably the best thing that ever happened to him. Hard love...

Probably my favorite Tiger ever to put on the purple and gold. As disappointed as I was when he was dismissed from the team he knew he did wrong and he was at a road block in his life. It took him a few tries but he got it right and he never forgot his ties with LSU and I really don’t think Les ever “gave” up on him. I think he will be forever grateful for his time in Baton Rouge and we will never forget the memories he gave us. I’m a firm believer in 2nd chances and the Honey Badger is proof to our young generation that dreams do come true. Thank you Tyrann not only for the donations but thank you for the memories

I know it’s sometimes easy for people to question how he could’ve potentially thrown his life away, but his childhood was a train wreck with very little positive influence for much of his life. He faced his demons and became a huge success. Great tiger and ambassador for LSU.

Wish he would’ve been around to tackle Yeldon.

Wow, I was just playing the video and explaining everything to my wife. I explained the complications and ramifications of that play, and how a freshman was there instead of HB. Then I read your post.

Thank God we fired Les. The people who wanted Les fired definitely aren’t complete shitheads.

I remember the cameras found him at the Washington game and there was a big scandal. Guy just wanted to watch his team and got criticized for it. An LSU legend for sure.

I just rewatched the play. We blitzed Mills and he had a perfect line on AJ and could've batted the ball down smh. Mathieu doesn't make that mistake.

Yeldon played that so perfectly. Didn’t bounce out for Mills to bail on the blitz. You have to think Mathieu bats that down though

Without question. Miles had no choice and knew the best way to help Mathieu was to let him go. How many coaches make that decision?

Yep. And it cost Les dearly...but he did the right thing. TM7 was quite possibly the difference between 10-3 and an NC that year. God forbid had he stayed through 2013.

By far my favorite come back story in sports. And favorite tiger ever. Props to Pat for putting his name on the line to get him out to Arizona as well.
