It's kinda like car sales, you don't want to let them leave the lot.
The last time I didn't leave the lot and think about it, I ended up suing the dealership for fraud and winning a settlement. It’s not a bad thing to take a night and think about it.

so you’re willing to give up on a coach because he doesn’t say yes to moving 6 kids across the country in 24 hours?
I mean, he's already had lots of time to think about that. This wasn't something that just came up today and he's overwhelmed and needs lots of time to think.
Yeah, if we haven't gotten a yes by Saturday morning, we aren't going to get one, and Derek should start making some more calls.

I mean it's not a stupid move on his part. It's a negotiating tactic to try and get the most money he can out of whoever wants him most. Deals aren't finalized until they're signed and legally binding and offers can change many times until that point. He is simply trying to milk this contract for all it's worth. Now, if lsu wants him bad enough, they will sweeten the deal a little bit more. If not, then he is still in the same position as he was regardless with a decision to make. The exact reason for doing this is how some of you are reacting on this board, y'all believe he is gone when nothing could be further from the truth and he wasn't ever here to begin with lol. It's a ploy to get the best deal he can, period. I bet he already knows where he's going to sign.

People on our side very confident. I’ll leave it at that.
Biggest threat is a P5 HC job.

Does he have a P5 HC offer, or just if one were to come along? I would be a bit surprised if he gets one of those at this point in his career.

So, when do we start seeing various threads popping up saying Corey Raymond is really the best option? We really wanted him instead of Freeman all along?

Didn’t his wife make the trip?

Maybe wants to tell Fickle, who he has a lot of respect for, that he’s accepted the job in person instead of letting him find out through the media via a phone alert ???

Ain’t no way this man passing up ~1.5m-2m a year compared to his 500k a year right now. He’s thinking about his family. Y’all need to chill saying he’s not coming

I want freeman but if this is the biggest threat, it will be a threat next season. Maybe go for a not one and done?
If you do go that route then O needs to be prepared to go looking for a guy that fits what we have so we don't keep recruiting for diff schemes every year.

So are you thinking this will go into next week?
Posted on 1/7/21 at 8:20 pm to LSUGoo
Damn. Peetz and Freeman both have 6 kids?? U High better get some spots ready! lol

If they don’t close them up front, at least in principle, that’s likely a no

Absolutely stupid attitude.
As Sean Payton always says, you WANT your coaches to move on to bigger jobs. It means you’re successful.

I’m starting to believe that wherever he goes it won’t be a 1 year and leave if he does well unless it’s as Head Coach at Cincinnati, a P5 school or NFL DC job. I say Cincinnati only because he has been there a few years.
With 6 kids, I see him looking at a place like LSU for 3 years minimum. Baton Rouge might not be ideal but being DC at LSU is a great coaching job if done right.
Also being DC at LSU automatically puts him as a front runner to be Head Coach at LSU if Coach O retired or loses his job for some reason.
But that goes for any school that hires him.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes the LSU DC job over Notre Dame’s opening but I would think he has some other big time options we haven’t heard about yet.
I don’t see him going to a Big 10 team besides Ohio State without Fickell though.
