Many posters say the program's culture is deficient, but few define the problem or cure.

There have been a host of posters over the last two months asserting that the current culture of the LSU football program is toxic or rotten or inadequate.
I'm neither agreeing nor disagreeing with that statement.
However, I have seen very few posters attempt to explain HOW the culture is deficient or what the remedy should be.
For those of you believe the program culture has been corrupted, what is the precise issue and what do you view as the solution?

No one can explain. Good try though.

LSU has created a culture of getting you to the NFL as fast as possible. A guy like Anthony Johnson or Malachi Dupre had zero intention of playing more than 3 years and LSU supported that.
That message helps you land recruits like Johnson and Dupre but it leads to big time attrition too.
I don’t think that’s necessarily toxic but it’s definitely cultural.

Identifying there’s a cultural issue is obvious. Figuring out how to regroup and overcome it is not the job of the fan. It’s the job of a millionaire paid to coach a team.

You asked some excellent questions. Don't expect a bunch of excellent, logical responses.

Pay me $7m a year and I’ll figure it out and fix it. What a stupid post.

O lost control when this team mutinied this summer and the players skipped practice to be social justice warriors.
It has been downhill since.

For every Anthony Johnson and Malachie Dupre there is a La’el Collins, Tre White, DJ Chark and Kendall Beckwith.

My guess is that it all started with O choosing not to shite on trump, then Ryan Clark jumping in and making the issue 100 times worse. It's a total guess, but it makes sense when you piece together the timeline of certain things starting to happen.
The fix? I have no clue. The fix will probably be O getting fired, because the problem continues to spiral out of control. Or a few leaders of the team step up and side with Orgeron to put the fire out. Those leaders will have to have some sway with just about the entire team though, to get them to follow.

Well, let’s see.
Problems:
- recruiting players with entire basis being the NFL (with little emphasis on character or growing them as men)...leads to many leaving early that are not ready because their mindset is and always has been leaving as soon as possible. You don’t see this as often at the elite programs like Bama and Clemson;
- you have players like Davis and Guice beating, and perhaps raping, with institutional protection;
- you have boosters converting charity money to recruiting money (if you don’t think O either knew or could have known, you are crazy); and
- you have key players opting out of the season because they have nothing to keep them there...there is no loyalty cultivated, so none is reciprocated.
Solutions:
- hire coaches that are men of character and discipline to coach these boys and mentor them to adulthood (greater than 50% of the players lack a father, or so I was told several years ago);
- have zero tolerance for bullshite;
- recruit with a purpose (see Saban’s methods); and
- build an expectation of professionalism through the program.
Like them or not, both Saban and Dabo have done this at their schools.

The issue started in his first season with lack of discipline and wanting to be a players coach. He was more concerned with only winning games to secure the job instead of the well being and education of young men as well.

You sir have hit the nail on the head !!! Listen to Saban in the media. He is constantly talking about giving his players the tools they need to grow and be SUCCESSFUL MEN IN LIFE not just getting them to the NFL.

The issue started with miles. Just using the program as a stepping stone to the nfl.

Saban has underclassmen go pro every year
LSU has the exact same model
O has successfully recruited Jrs back to school multiple times.
So which is it? Cant be both

The issue is how many were NFL ready all at once. We also had guys like Lawrence and Fulton come back.

NFLSU
Nice tool in recruiting, but it creates a culture where it's the only reason guys are here. No pride in LSU at all by many.
Catch 22 situation

You’re exactly right...it starts with the head coach. You change culture by identifying and sticking to your values: hard work; team performance over individual performance; getting your degree, etc.
Even though this may not land you a lot of 5 star talent, you can get lesser talent to over achieve as a team. Plus, what good is a 5 star who only gives 2 years of half arse playing time and spoils the attitudes of the players who do stay for 4 years.

Yes Great for the 2019 team. Not ideal
For 2020 but I’ll take this over two 11 win seasons
