So you're saying that the plan all along was to turn away DBs in the 2018 class and instead convert some of the WRs we have into DBs?
No, he's suggesting that they may have had it in mind as a backup plan if they missed. It's not a hard concept to grasp.
However, it's a better reaction than throwing hands up in defeat OR contacting Stanford about a time machine to go back and take the Goodrich commitment.
You may regret screwing the whore with syphillis, but that doesn't mean you refuse treatment so your dick falls off.

Great idea !!! They have a copy machine. They could have printed as many scholarship offers as they wanted. Offer Everybody and don't just take the first to commit, take them all !!!
They don't need a copying machine. They need to learn how to prioritize better.

In short, learn how to strategize . . . effectively

They prioritized pretty damn good. They had prioritized to take a 5-star CB. They then found out at 11:00 p.m. the night before signing day that he was not coming.
I'm sure you would have gone out on signing day morning and got two or three 5-star CB's to flip to LSU. Unfortunately, not everyone is as great as you are at recruiting.
Corey Raymond is still learning the ropes. Maybe he will give you a call and you can give him some advice on recruiting and signing DB's.

Obviously not but ok. Even O said he would do things differently if he had it to do over, which is a recurring theme with him.

That's why Goodrich should've been locked up when they couldn't secure Surtain's commitment at the early signing period after he'd put LSU as his favorite for years. Why do you and SC continuously make excuses for him when he admits he fricked up?

I get the #1 class every year on NCAA '14. That is a tough standard to meet.

Not blaming him. Blaming Orgeron, the ace recruiter. Maybe he should do the one thing he says he's good at instead of trying to prove to everyone he can coach.

Why does moving a player to another position require all this bullshite? They move players all the time and they may be more. The Elite Wide Receiver Class was the best in the nation and now there are 12 on Depth Chart.

Rantards have to melt. They think if they don't cry about every little thing they are not doing their jobs. They bitch about analyst hires and then bitch when said analyst is hired by the Dallas Cowboys.
It's just what they do. "If you're not miserable, you're not a fan".

When it's the result of the head coach and "ace recruiter"'s failure to sign a single CB when we only have 4 (maybe 3) on scholarship, it's understandable why it would become something more than simply a routine position change to a lot of people. I'm not freaking out or anything. But it'd be silly to not be a tad bit worried about our situation at CB. Maybe it'll work out swimmingly. We'll see. Just better keep Greedy in some kind of pressurized chamber until August.

Because we have DBs that line up to get to LSU and we whiffed on at least two of them due to incompetence.
And somehow moving a WR to play DB to make up for that incompetence should be praised.

But the move makes sense and, on the surface of it, is a pretty good one. Could work out pretty good in the end. Have to allow for that. Netherly is (as stated above) one hell of an athelete. Raymond is an excellent coach.
It has potential... while technically being reactionary and 'making the best of it', there are really worse moves that could have been made as that reaction.

Exactly.

Eddie Smith should have been on there plan B list as soon as he decommitted from Tenn, I mean he was for Saban who was in his got damn house asap dancing with his family and all. Lol But I mean it seemed as if they had layed all there eggs in the Surtain basket and got burned for it. Orgeron should definitely know better, but it is what it is now.
This year is a must with locking down Stingley, Bush, and others.

Interesting. I hope that we eventually find out that this was a planned move all along, and not done out of desperation due to losing out on both Goodrich and Surtain, Jr. I hope he turns out to be another Mo Claiborne.

Damn. We went from DBU to here almost overnight.
DBU is more about what a team puts in the nfl than incoming recruits!

Probably wasn't a planned move per say, but with the overflow of wr's and lack of cb's, a very good move. They must see qualities in Netherly that make them think this will benefit both LSU and Netherly. I'm excited about the move and hope they have also considered Derrick Dillon and Justin Jefferson along with Jaray Jenkins as possible position moves to CB

Maybe Saban should have paid more attention to guys who were already committed to Bama instead of dancing in Louisiana.

Losing recruits happens to pretty much every team in every class. Losing COMMITTS can also happen, even to Saban.
Could you imagine the fun the "so-called" LSU fans on this board would be having if LSU lost out on two recruits who were actually COMMITTED ???
Posted on 2/20/18 at 1:50 pm to Tiger Ree
Apparently the dancing worked because he's now an Alabama crimson tide player, that's the point.

I'd say that if we had a coach who had lead our team to the playoffs every year in its existence people would probably be a little more willing to live with it and/or give said head coach some leeway
