Northwestern to Gator Bowl is official. Looks good for us Tigers who wanted the Cotton Bowl so far

Couldn't Boise be ranked in the top 16 and get a BCS bid in addition to NIU?
As it stands, the new Coaches' Poll has BSU 15 and NIU 16... Gotta hope the computers bump them down, no?

I had heard that A&M was lobbying against playing any Big 12 team in a bowl game.
I don't understand this. Why does A&M care? I understand the Big 12 being butthurt about them leaving, but why would A&M really want to go to a lesser bowl game so they wouldn't have to play a Big 12 team?

Cool with me. Frankly the CapOne is the least inviting venue due to the shitty opponent and noon kickoff.
And a terrible stadium in a desolate neighborhood, and New Years visitors to Disney/Universal making hotels hard to find and traffic horrible.

Boise's computer rankings are really bad, so I don't think they'll be able to get in the top 16. NIU is going to be close since they're ranked 16 in both the coaches and AP. Harris will probably have them around 16 and their computer ranking will jump a bit higher after this weekend.

I don't think it's A&M that's doing the lobbying. Perhaps the Cotton Bowl doesn't want a Big 12 vs. A&M match up because of the bad blood between the conference and the Aggies. All of the media focus would be on that and not on the game itself.

Texas football is in the crash and burn phase of the Mack Brown era. I've seen them on TV against Oklahoma, TCU, and KSU. Brown just as well retire now before he's forced out in another year. It's a 4-loss team. If OU were to slip to Cotton, that would be a great match-up. However, I'd rather see LSU vs. Clemson instead of Texas (if OU is picked by BCS bowl).

I think we can beat either Texas or OU, but (obviously) the more winnable game is UT. And it gives me bragging rights over half of my coworkers. So, I want that.

Because they no longer want to be associated with that conference, at all. They're trying to shake the image of a big 12 team and become a team people associate with the SEC
in a few years they'll be ok with it again.

Sounds like both sides are. And I've seen people saying that the Cotton Bowl would love OU/A&M.
I mean, I'm happy that they'll go to a lesser bowl opening up the spot for us, it just make sense to em

The problem with this is revenue. LSU stands to take a big hit in ticket sales if we get sent to the CFA Bowl. Also, I'd rather beat up on Texas than play a team with a good QB and strong passing attack like Clemson, especially with how poorly our defense has played in the last 3 games.

UGA to Cap1 vs Nebraska
LSU to cotton vs Texas/OU (OU if no.Illinois makes top16)
USC to outback vs Michigan
A&m to CFA vs Clemson
Miss st to Gator vs Northwestern
I am glad somehow that some logical pairings may prevail.

I can't believe these jokers could get a BCS game and we'd get sent to a 3rd tier bowl game.
