Yeah just dj augustin Greg Monroe and I could list about 5 more who contributed to final 4 teams.

Augustin was from the 2006 recruiting class (had a good crop of players then).

Monroe was from the 2008 recruiting class (had a good crop of players then).

I previously stated that we have had like 4 SEC quality players from La. high schools since 2008.

True, but 2.6 is nothing to LSU in the grand scheme of things. Alleva has the ability to do it at his disposal.

LA high school basketball has been down lately.

It's been up for the majority of history.

Right it doesn't mean shite....it's just the exact reason why lsu is gonna be #1 to start next season with la tex and miss talent.....and this has been brought up by the god himself nick fricking sabAn when he took the lsu job in 2000.

you're a fool. Basketball is different than football.

the HS football in LA is on a whole different level than basketball

And regardless of who produces more talent....if you get a coach that can recruit naturally this point is irrelevant......kids want to play for the best.

He could but the idea that he's going to say here is 3 or 4 mil isn't realistic IMO. He could afford to offer big bucks for Nikki Caldwell and that Bama softball homo because it was big bucks relative to their sport. Big bucks in basketball is a different ballgame.

First Tier:

Floyd
Dixon
Drew (I really hope we don't make this mistake, sure wins are nice, but NCAA sanctions are not)

Second Tier -- (may end up looking here due to timing)

Kermit Davis (Midd. Tenn. St.) Has connections to LSU with his time under Brady, but has not been any better than middle of the pack in the Sun Belt.

Mike McConathy (NSU) He could have made to the SEC about 10 years ago (I believe Ole Miss offered him), but he wanted to stay at NSU and coach his two 5'8" sons. They have both graduated, so maybe he is ready to move. Based on his time at Bossier Parish CC and NSU, you probably won't find another coach who has a better knowledge of Louisiana HS basketball.

Rick Stansbury - Not my first choice, but we could do worse. He managed to recruit solid talent to Starkville, but never really played up to potential.

Yes.....you are right it is different.......

Recruiting isn't though. We need a recruiter who can also coach.......fact.

Katrina screwed a lot of things up for la HS basketball

Most of the high d1 talent in state is coming up because a lot of people are slowly moving back and things are settling down here

But lsu recruits miss and Texas too

This is true. But La. has the athletes. Shitty high school coaching for basketball is an epidemic in La. IMO. and yes a lot of those athletes play football.

Apples and Oranges. A winning men's basketball team will actually make money.

Should be around tier 20 right next to bringing Dale back.

I know they have athletes, ive always defended LA basketball. LSU has never been able to lock down the top guys except the ones in BR.

Neither Brady or Johnson recruited NOLA hard enough, but that's a different subject.

He's got 2 NCAA tournament appearances and 2 tournament wins at NSU. That's better than Kermit Davis at arguably a better program.

ETA:

Wildcard Pick:

Billy Gillespie -- He's a Texas guy, but how happy is he in Lubbock. He can make the move back to the SEC and keep his old school rivalry. Despite not winning at Kentucky, he did build a nice program at A&M.

He's had one winning season in the last 5 years.

He just got there, ran off a longtime assistant after physically fighting him, and then had a 8-23 season. And he's probably drunk right now.
