I don't remember the year, but LSU was at Alabama and inside the 5 yard line when a bama player went down with an injury. I remember that the clock continued to run but LSU wasn't able to snap the ball because of the injury on the field. I know it's not a top 5 most controversial game but it is another example of LSU getting robbed when they play in the state of Alabama.

Yeah, recall the fiasco; one of J Booty games had to be around 99?

1999. And,yea, one ref in the background signaled time . I mean,Marvin Constant (who had the body to have made All-Pro)never played a down again. But if Josh Booty hadn't wanted to be a hero and stuck to the play he had two guys wide open in the endzone. We had already stood up about to explode.

The non pass interference call at the end of the first half was probably the most blatant and game costing penalty.

The non-PI call late in the game where Early basically got his salad tossed by the AU DB (official picked up the flag, waved it off) was pretty egregious, too.

1970 Notre Dame in South Bend

1979 USC in Tiger Stadium

I don't know which one I would put at number 1 because both were absolutely terrible calls.

The Chicago paper said after the Notre Dame game that if Notre Dame was number 1, then LSU was 1A.

LSU should have tied Notre Dame and beat Southern Cal.

Hester's "incomplete".

I still don't see. Where there was enough evidence to overturn that call.

That's because there wasn't. It was a catch.

after reading this thread it occurs to me that people haven't watched auburn '06. none of the other games in this thread come close. worst officiated game of any sport at any level I've ever seen. the refgate video on youtube doesn't have all the missed calls.

First, last, and only time that penalty has ever been called. They took it off the books

not true, i know LSU fans like to claim this, but it was called twice in the PAC12 that year, and 2 more times in the mountian west. No doubt it was a terrible rule, and 5 times is not much better than 1, but it was indeed called more than once.

Jones reaches in and clearly touches the ball first. Jones is out of bounds. Dead ball, no matter what after that. Correct call. Let it go guys.

fricking INDEED!! Remember it well. Charley Mac was sick as hell over that call. When he played the film for everyone (press) that following Monday, the rest of us got a little ill. We had it and the refs jerked it away from us. Nothing malicious, just a piss poor call.

I believe it was 1999 vs Miss State. The Referee signaled a TD when the Miss State back attempted to score from the one yard line and was tackled short of the goal line, clearly over a yard short. The LSU CB run up and screamed at the ref and was thrown out of the game. This was not the back going over and being pushed back. He never got close to the goal line. The game is known as the "phantom touchdown game". Worst call I have ever seen.

He even laughed about it after the game, admitting it was the right call.

Todd's a friend of mine. I just texted him a link to this. He said you're full of crap. Everyone had their hands on each other in a pile of people. He just had a better vertical than everyone in the pile.

Eta: I can't believe nobody has mentioned 1989 Florida. Sure, let's add some time so they can kick the winning field goal.
