I was one of the ones who said IF he didn't make some noise this season his seat should b warmed considerably. Noise has been made with the tourney on the horizon. He can stay

i just don't understand when this stuff happens either way .. why start an "i told you so" thread ? coming off of last season, coupled with that appy state series .. there was reason for fans to be frustrated at that point and question the direction of the program over the last year plus

when the anti mainieri threads were prevelent, i knew an "i told you so thread" was being prepared (or at least one) and stated so. therefore, i am also worthy of an "i told you so" shot. it is an "i told you that an i told you" thingy was destined to occur. and, or course, we are all glad that the i told you mainieri was great beats the hell out of an i told you mainieri needs firing thread is showing up. we have a good baseball team and mainieri is a good coach. he needs to stay and improve oversee improvement in this teams offense.

and had he gotten swept this weekend and played his way out of a national seed .. the mood on here would be very different this morning ..

Living life with this mindset will make you a miserable person......

No shite it would be different if we tanked but we didn't......and just like I told you PITCHING won the title.

You were in panic mode last week....you even said gausman had been struggling.

i recall very very few people literally wanting him removed after the sunday appalachian state game .. but how can someone really knock a fan for calling his seat hot after that ?

Because this is baseball, and its a different animal, one you would think LSU fans understand. Its easy to knock fans for bitching about Mainieri after the App State series because the time to evaluate how a team has performed is after the season, not seven games into it. You would think, as many good/great teams as LSU fans have had the pleasure to watch, they would learn that many of them develop as the season progresses and don't play their best ball all season long. I will never forget LSU's 2000 championship team starting 6-0 and then losing five straight including being swept three games at home by Houston. Still hard to believe, but people were calling for Skip's head because "the game had passed him by".

FWIW I have no problem with the link provided by FamousAmos. That discussion came after the season when it could be evaluated in its entirety.

I must say that there has been a big turn-a-round this season compared to the previous two seasons. Obviously pitching has improved greatly and winning somewhere around 12 or 13 one run games has made the difference.

I think coach Mainiei admitted that he became too complacent following the 2009 National Championship. I understand how human nature would foster that kind of response. Hopefully when we win the National Championship this year, CPM will keep the foot on the pedal for the next several years to follow.

As long as LSU can provide solid starting pitching and keep the bullpen in top form, the Tigers can make noise every year. What a difference a year makes.

Meh. Losing a single series early in the season isn't a reason to get too frustrated. It's an overreaction by people who like to whine about everything. That's why the OP started this topic.

It was funny reading those old threads. While I didn't jump off of a cliff after App State, I was very concerned about our ability to score runs. I'd say the most disappointed I was this season was after the auburn series when I started buying into the poor road record for LSU in the past 2 years up to that point.

As opposed to the previous couple of seasons, this team showed the ability to come from behind late in games to get a win, and the confidence to win on the road!

Good thing I didn't say anything too bad.

But you should bump the threads from 2011 where the sunshine pumpers said it's baseball and the team will figure things out.

You know that if we don't go to Omaha or don't actually WIN the tournament there will be rumblings again, don't you?

LSU fans want to elect a coach governor one day and literally hours later want to arson his house

While there has been remarkable improvement over last year, I still think that two things need to happen if PM wants to hoist another trophy at Omaha: 1) I think he needs a better hitting coach, period 2) I think that he needs to find two or three "big bats" to put in the middle of the lineup. LSU's batters for the most part look smallish compared to many of the power alley guys on most of the other SEC teams.

Whats the difference in those threads and the countless ones started by those who want to tell us this is wrong with a team/player/coach or that is wrong?

Baseball is not a sprint but rather a distance race. Anyone beginning to lose their water after the freaking 2nd series of the yr is only showing their lack of college baseball IQ. imo

Any HC with a CWSC ring on his finger, 3 SEC tourney titles, 3 west titles, and 2 SEC titles in 5 yrs has a pretty dang good record of knowing what in the hell he's doing.

We wouldn't have to worry bout being proven wrong if we just were not sooooooooooooo quick to give up/call a coach out in the 2nd series of the season or 2nd SEC series.
