I agree with tigermac, but I do disagree with one argument that many have made. I believe that there is some hitting talent on this team. Jacoby Jones holds Mississippi high school batting records, put a 2009 model bat in Mason Katz hands and I think he's a 17-20 homer guy, Tyler Hanover should be a .300 hitter, and I still can't figure out how Austin Nola doesn't have greater numbers.

I definitely wasn't first......but I don't forget tellin a whole bunch of people in those threads LE linked that I was not going to be worried over an early season series loss.

Well, I think it's a formality at this point, but once they announce the regional hosts, he'll be banned for two weeks.

hold on. let's not act like manieri has done anything yet. the regular season is nice but, the postseason has been dismal the last 2 seasons and that's what really counts. in his defense, lsu got shafted both times. we should have hosted as a 2 seed in 2010 and should have made the postseason last year. if both of those things happen, then the state of lsu baseball at the beginning of this season is quite different. however, you could say it's on him for letting lsu be on the bubble. lsu should be hosting and making the super regional pretty much every season.
people keep complaining about the hitting but, lsu had a better hitting average than 2/3 of the cws teams last season. there was a very comprehensive thread about this breaking all the stats down. lsu has been a solid hitting team the last two seasons. the pitching on the other hand has been disappointing.

quote:correct. in a sport where there is a champ determined by a playoff, the regular season is pretty much meaningless. if lsu goes 0-2 in the regional, no one will care the lsu won the regular season title. as i said, lsu's committment to baseball should equal a long postseason run pretty much every season with a hiccup here and there.

what do you attribute lsu's losses to over the last couple of seasons? it wasn't the hitting alone. the hitting has been demonstrably proven to be solid as i said. the defense has been solid. that only leaves one other phase.
always criticism without dealing with the specifics. wouldn't be the rant otherwise.

You stated that the past two post seasons have been abysmal, but we didn't make it last year, or maybe we could have made some noise. In 2010, Mainieri led LSU to it's third consecutive SEC tournament win, and then got shipped out West into murderers row. After beating a good UCI team with our #2 pitcher, we lost to the best college pitcher in the nation.
The last two season's failures were results of a poor SEC regular season. This year, LSU has fixed that, and we won't get sent on the road to face a top 3 major league baseball draft pick on the mound. We get to play in the Box, college baseball's greatest home field advantage. Throughout his career, PAul Mainieri has proven to be a good tournament coach.

If you guys are gonna ban me and not just let me ban myself, PLEASE don't forget to unban me. I'd rather it be self imposed and if I post during the two week period, then ban me.
